Ssssssssss-ssssss...

No ears caught the light slithering noise on abandoned concrete, unheard of within a constantly bustling city of piercing car honks and shuffling crowds.

Sssssss-ssssssss...

The large shadow slithered in the back of the dim alley, out of sight from its prey-yet growing ever closer.

Sssssss-ssssssss...

The man made his way towards the bright intersection before him, unknowing of his swiftly-gaining companion. A pedestrian, eager to return to his comfy apartment to spend a night with his spouse, as most.

These thoughts cluttered his mind, blocking out the possibilities of danger. He intended to relax after a long, stressful day of work- and maybe have a few drinks.

He never would.

Sssssssss-ssssss...

It was strange how easily the supernatural creature made its way around an unsuspecting city full of demanding bosses and exhausted workers.

Ssssssssss-sssss...

For every resounding step of the man, the creature gained an unimaginable amount of distance.

Ssssssssss-sssss...

The man suddenly felt the aura that he was being watched. Suspicious, he turned his head around to see- darkness.

With a relieved sigh, he continued walking. He hadn't much longer to go... or live.

Sssssssss-sssss...

The man was perhaps ten feet from the safety of the bright lights and flashing signs and noises. But the creature was prepared.

Ssssssss-sssss...

The man heard the sound for sure this time- he turned once again. His mistake.

Ssssssss-sssss...

He hadn't even time to let out his scream before he was dead.
