Dear Diary,

I sat outside today longer than usual. The one eyed hawk sat for a while listening to my muffled cries. I yearn for my mother's return. She led the rebellion once, why can't she do it again. I miss her terribly but Ariana needs me here at home, I leave for the Test today. I'm scared for what it may bring for me and for my young sister.

If I die and someone reads this, the Capitol must fall.

Signed, Danny Everdeen.

I sat for a couple of minutes after closing my diary. I soon heard Ariana in the house so I quickly stood from the old swing I grew up with, and entered my small house. I walked into the kitchen to find her sitting on the stool. She turned and ran into my arms and whispered, "You can do it Danny," she lifted her tiny head showing her tear stained cheeks, "You can win, show now fear Dan. You're mommy did it so that means you can. A spark can start a blaze."

After I made Ariana's breakfast I sent her to Jenna's house so she wouldn't be here when Mother woke. I made my way out of the old house for my possible last time. I took the short walk to Austin's house to find him on the porch staring off into the distance. Austin was one of my bestfriends he was member of Gale's family. He told me how Gale would always talk about my mom but I've never met the guy. I cleared my throat gaining Austin's attention, he turned in my direction and slightly smiled. I soon felt he strong arms around me and I soon nestled my head into the crook of his neck as he slowly whispered, "This is the year Danny. We'll go out with a bang." I looked into his eyes and smiled as I leaned in connecting my lips to his.

This year we will go out with a bang Austin. A bang to the head.
