Alex and Nicky walked off together, nudging each the other all the way out of sight

Alex was in period 7 literature. Piper hadn't noticed her before, she was very quiet and keeps her head down

Alex didn't let more than 5 words out when Nicky was speaking for her but her voice was nice and crisp

Piper packed her food in her car and went to her job

The day went by slowly because she only had 2 classes. Everyday was broken into 4 periods. Periods 1-4 then the next day it would be periods 5-1 and then 2-5 and so forth

It was a continuous pattern of this and once the cycle ended, it would restart on 1-4

Each day Piper tried more and more to make friends with the students and show them she was in high school not long ago

None of them were really interested in her or anything going on so it was difficult

She spent lunch outside if she didn't have papers to work on. Piper liked getting fresh air a lot

Nicky approached Piper alone this time. Piper liked Nicky but she did find Nicky very intimidating

"Hey bummer Chapman"

"Hi Nicky"

"Why do you eat of here all alone?" Nicky leaned on her raised knee, on the bench Piper was on

"I need a break from your loud teenage-ness" piper bit her bagel

"Eh? Is that right? How old are you even?"

"I think we're both better off not knowing that" piper laughed

"I'm just curious. You look very young"

"Thank you Nicky"

"You go to college?"

"Smith"

"Wow. Alright Smith grad; when'd you graduate?"

"Nicky, you're not that clever"

"I'm not asking, my friend Alex is"

"Well you tell Alex to see me if she has anymore questions" piper joked

Nicky grinned then walked away slowly. Piper laughed to herself and finished eating

The day went by slower than before but Piper made it. She spent half of it asleep or eating but that's how many days went. She also enjoyed books but only when someone recommended one to her

At the end of the day piper was packing her things when someone knocked on her door

"Come in!" Piper yelled, not looking up from her things

Alex slowly walked in, keeping her eyes focused on Chapman

"Hi"

Chapman slowly made eye contact with Alex

"Oh Alex...hi, do you need anything?"

"Um I just had a-"

Piper cut her short "Your teacher is in the bathroom, I'm sure he'll be back soon...if you need him"

"Actually I came to see you"

Piper was taken by what she had said "what do you need Alex?"

"I thought you needed to see me..." Alex said nonchalantly

"No" piper stopped packing her things

"Nicky said you- Nicky" Alex chuckled "Nicky must've lied"
