*New Orleans, Louisiana*
"Piper! Will you please stop crying, you can't do anything about it. We had to move!" Pipers mother sighed as she listens to the weeping of her tired teenager.
"I'm sorry mom...I'm just...I'm just tired. Ever since the last incident with our house, I can't stop thinking about...huh I don't want to talk about it." Piper wiped the tears from her face and went back to starring out the window.
Piper, and her mother Beatrice, had just found out their home had been burnt down in a freak fire in Oklahoma. In Beatrice's mind, she was not at all put down by this tragedy. The incidents that had been happening in that house were surely a thing to get away from. Paranormal things, terrible things that most people wouldn't have to suffer through on a daily basis. One night, when Piper was around 10 years old, Beatrice had been woken up by a long, terrifying scream coming from pipers lungs. She rushed to her room and found piper quietly sleeping, and no harm was put on her. To this day neither Beatrice, or Piper, know what happened.
Trying to shake the thought out of her mind, she realized, suddenly, the road was covered in dirt. There had been a semi truck filled with rocks that had tipped over on the highway above.
"Mom, how much longer. I'm soooo tired of driving!" Piper wined with annoyance in her voice.
"Just be patient! There's a lot of trafic so it's going to be a while, honey." Beatrice had no more patients. How much longer would it really take? The roads were outrageous, and there was still half a state they had to cross! Beatrice had imagined a quiet, peaceful new home. Now she had some doubts.
The car ride lasted for about nine hours after the trafic, both Piper and Beatrice were exhausted and just wanted to rest. They finally hit a town where there were some hotels to stay in. Luckily, it was close to their new house so there wasn't much more driving in the process...thank goodness! Both of them had thought.
"Well *chuckles*, I hope our bad luck didn't follow us here! Huh, piper?" Beatrice smiled and truly hoped to God that what ever they left behind...stayed behind.
"Piper?" She didn't answer, and when Beatrice turned around, she found her fast asleep cuddled up with a new passenger. Beatrice chucked. Piper had brought a small kitten in when they stopped at the gas station, oh her and her animals!
They cruised along the Main Street just to find no open hotels...why was this town so popular? From what Beatrice observed...it wasn't the top on her list for amazing destinations. All the buildings needed work; the roads were as bumpy as a toads back, and the sky was always a dark grey. There had to be something up with this town to make people love it so much; the streets were always crowded with tourists taking pictures...of a dump.
Beatrice looks back at piper; starting out the window of their run down jeep they bought from Beatrice's parents. Piper looked so beautiful, the green in her eyes sparked, her short brown hair curled into little springs on her head. Beatrice had wished she could've stayed where Piper had friends, but they had to leave that horrible place.
