It was in the afternoon checking the time on my phone it read 3:19 pm. I was just finishing loading my things into the U-haul truck, standing in the driveway was a slim petite girl with red curly hair that stopped to her shoulders , my diary and my sister, Alicia, i could see the sparkle in her eyes starting to form into tears. I let out a sigh and began walking up to her i know this is going to be hard for her more than it is for me, no more hang outs at each others house, no more girl talks, and no more late night study's i am officially moving from Florida to California.
No matter how many times Alicia and I has literally got on our knees begging dad for me to stay with them part time and visit on the weekends, the answer has been the same ''we are a family, and no one gets left behind we are one, there's no family without you.'' i could hear him saying this now in his mellifluous voice. ''Why can't you just come and stay with us?'' i heard a crack in her voice and at this moment i pulled her into a hug comforting her with a tear rolling down my cheek as her nice soft tight curls brushed against my cheek. ''i wish i could but i know my dad isn't going to let me, i'm sorry .'' ''Ugh i'm going to miss you so much bestie, we going to have to still keep in touch and hey take pictures for me when you get there.'' she chuckled wiping her tears.
''i will and always keep in touch with you, i'm going to take pictures .''i chuckled back ''GRACE! ITS TIME TO ROLL! '' i turned around and took a deep sigh'' SEE YOU AGAIN ALICIA!'' my dad yelled getting into the driver's seat closing the door. ''SEE YOU AGAIN MR. TAYLOR!'' she yelled back, ''Well i guess this is it huh.'' Alicia spoke ''Yeah.'' i looked down at the concrete ground ''Maybe i could visit during the summer? or maybe even spring break time .'' her face lit up half way with a quarter smile ''That sounds like a good idea to me.'' then her facial expression changed back to being mournful realizing the fact i'm still moving 40 Hours away from her.
''Grace sweetie!" Michelle , my step mother semi- yelled for me i gave Alicia one more big hug that lasted for 20 seconds ''Text you when i make it." "OK." Alicia replied back , Alicia and I have been best friend's since kinder-garden so we are pretty close. i walked to the car having Alicia following me "Oh and my mom said see you later and good luck." i smiled as she crept a smile and hugged her for the last time "tell her i said i will see her later and thanks, talk to you later." getting in the backseat next to my two twin step sisters Mariah and Mercedes waving as Alicia waved back as we drove off i turned around looked out the window as i seen Alicia just standing there , she disappeared as we got further away.
"This is going to be quite a ride." i said to myself putting in my ear buds and began listening to music.
40 hours later
Waking up to "Eternal Sunshine -Jhene Aiko" playing in my ear it was the perfect time because a ray of sun hit my face causing me to squint " GUYS WE'RE HERE!'' hearing my two sisters Mariah and Mercedes groan "Mamma i don't want to be here." Mercedes spoke "me neither. " said Mariah "look i know it's hard for you guys to move away from your friends ,but i'm sure you will make new friends." she looked at me and smiled "Again why did David take the job?" Mariah asked "Because it was a better opportunity which means more wages coming in ." my dad spoke up getting out the car. As we all got out we were looking at our nice new home it was a light tan color that had 2 garages, we went inside and looked around it had 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms one of the rooms had an balcony leading into the back house which gives you a nice view of the pool. "THISROOMISMINE!" i quickly said plopping on the bed "Hold up you can't go around claiming rooms!" Mariah said "finders keeper. " you better be lucky. " she playfully gave me an mug " i laughed Mercedes rolled her eyes at me "whatever i'm going to take the room across." For some reason Mercedes always had this unfriendly vibe with me , i don't know what did i ever do to her, my dad says maybe its because she's still trying to adjust to us being a family.
