"Sorry, mummy said to get you for dinner." She grabs his hand and attempts to pull him.
"Alright I'm coming. I was just chatting to a class mate." Dan wears a crooked smile.
He gets up and let's Rita guide him all the way to the kitchen. That's when she lets go of his hand and jumps into her chair, which is next to Dan's. There father is sitting across from them with a newspaper covering his face. "Hello Dad." Dan greets.
"Hi Daniel." He folds up his newspaper and puts it to the side. "Hello to you too Marita."
"Hi daddy!" She giggles and Dan smiles at her. "Mummy is dinner ready yet?"
"Almost sweetheart, stop being so anxious." There mum shakes her head at her child.
"But I'm hungry. And you said we could eat when I got Dan off his computer and out of his room." Marita complains.
"I know I said that but that's because I thought it would take a lot longer to get your brother off that stupid device."
"What do you do on their anyways?" Dan's father asks, suddenly interested in their conversation.
"Nothing important." Dan replies with a shrug that makes his father raise and eyebrow. "Not like that father, my eyes are still innocent ones. I just go on social media and sometimes talk to classmates and stuff."
"Classmates? Do you want to invite any on them over?" His mother asks hopefully. She knows Daniel doesn't have have many friends, she picked it up after he started to go back to school. Before he was sick a friend came over or he was at a friend's every other day. But now he was always at home, and always on that computer of his.
"Just because I talk to them doesn't make us friends mum. I mostly get on their nerves or them on mine. I don't want to talk about it." He wanted it to seem like it wasn't his fault, if his family found out what he really did in his free time he would never be allowed on the internet.
The conversation stopped there and dinner was served soon after. Dinner was uneventful with only small talk between his parents who occasionally tried to engage his sister and him which didn't last long. When Dan had finished his food, he excused himself from the table and went back to his bedroom.
Dan let out a sigh and plopped onto his bed. Stupid parents nosing around in his business. He knew it was there job to care for their kids, but giving him some space would be nice. He slid his pant off his legs and didn't even bother to take his top off as he pulls his blankets over his body.
"Set alarm for 11am." Dan says with a yawn. Setting alarm for 11am in England, 1pm in Greece, 8pm in Canberra, Australia. His parents didn't know of Dan's abilities, in fact, he was the only one who knew what he was capable of. Which is one of the reasons he shut everyone out, if he told any one and they tell someone else, he would be hired by every secret organization in the world and his robotic heart would start to grow attention towards him.
Dan sighs. Being him was hard, but he was used to it. The lonely life of a beeping heart and a sister who looks up to you like you're the only role model she has. He closes his eyes and let's his thought become what surrounds him instead of the hazardous sounds and colours.
"Goodnight." He taps over his heart twice.
Beep, beep, beep.

Dan's eyes open immediately and he knows it must be 11am. He has school today, which stunk. He hated school, besides, he was smarter than anyone there, including teachers. He had all the information he needed in his head, he didn't need to put it down on paper to prove it.
