Chapter 1.
I found out living in a country town isn't easy. They say you just have to fit in somewhere, do your part, and dare to anything too liberal. I didn't fit in any of these cliques they had around here, so I decided kept to myself. In towns like these, everyone knew each other's business and that was something I was bound to not enjoy. See, I have a secret I've been holding onto for a while now but we'll get to that soon.
Well let's see, My name's Pluto. I know, very strange and very different. My mom told me it was because giving birth to me was "out of this world". Yeah I rolled my eyes at that one too. When I was young I thought it was because she gave birth to me in space but we all know that didn't happen.
Anyways, today is actually my first day at Hickman High school and I have no idea what to expect. I put on my lucky pink shirt and beige shorts for something simple, hoping not to draw too much attention. Honk honk! I peek out of the window and sigh. I guess I'll be catching some eyes after all. My mom just got a new shiny car and has decided to drop me off at school today to show it off.
"Come on Pluto before you're late!" she yells from the car.
I leave the house, grabbing my backpack on the way out, and hop in. She starts the engine and pulls off.
"You don't think that pink shirt will draw too much attention?" she asked concerned.
"You don't think driving a Luxury vehicle in the country draws too much attention?" I respond. She smiled and turned back to driving.
My mom has never believed in the idea of fitting in, she always wants to be one step ahead of everyone and beating them at what they do best. Me, on the other hand? I have zero interest in straying from the norm.
We pulled up to the school, a lot of students stared at me and then the car. I felt ashamed, as being the new kid wasn't hard enough. With a cloud of regret starting to hover over me, I kissed my mom goodbye and walked into the school.
"Name!" a man said as I walked into the door.
"Pluto Anderson," I replied frightened.
"Your home room is 204," he said looking down at a list. I shook my head and started searching. Some of the labels were a bit mixed up but it wasn't long until I found room 204. As I walked in, all of the students in the room looked up at me. I stood in the doorway confused. "You can take a seat anywhere for now," an excited voice said from across the room.
I sat down in the back so I didn't have to worry about surrounding myself with stares. A few moments pass and the teacher announced herself as Mrs. Newman. She started to hand out schedules and she stopped at me.
"Well I'll be darned. You have me for your first period," she said with an excited look. I smiled and accepted my schedule. She was right. She was my first period English teacher and I loved English. As the starting bell rang, I sat my backpack in a seat and left to visit the bathroom. In the bathroom, I was washing my face when I looked up and saw a very good looking guy with caramel skin in the mirror using the urinal. He was hands-down the most drool-worthy guy here and I haven't even seen half of the student body yet. Oh, yeah. This is that secret I don't want the town to know about. I've been having strange feelings for guys. When I turned around he was looking me straight in the eyes...
