"This will be where you sit while you preform." Josh set out a bar stool that had what looked to be fairy lights wrapped around it. "Here." Josh plugged in something. My chair lit up. It was way prettier than I expected. "Do you have like a logo sorta thing?" I assumed Josh needed it for a background when I preformed. "Uh I do actually! I put it on all my fliers for when I preform at places." I pulled it up on my phone. "Here." "Can you send it to me?" I nod and send him the picture. "Glad I gave you my number earlier." Josh and I laugh. "So original songs!" Josh claps his hands. "Yeah the thing is I just sing them... I don't really have instruments playing with it." "Here you sing and I'll try to uh... improvise on the drums." Tyler runs out from backstage. "I'll improvise with my ukulele!"
-time skip to after they learn a few songs-
Josh and I are sitting on the edge of the stage and talking about our lives. "So once when I was like 7 my cousin tried to get me to roller skate and I fell and broke my wrist. The last time I went roller skating was when I was 16 and my friend told me to come roller skating with her." Josh seemed intrigued with every word I said. "Once my friend dared me to chug olive oil... It didn't end well." I start laughing and Josh smiles and shoves me a little. "Hey! How would you like it if you were barfing up olive oil?" "Ew don't go into full detail about it!!" I say while laughing. Suddenly it gets really cold in the arena. "It's really cold in here." I tell Josh. Josh puts his finger up like he's a character in a cartoon who just had an idea. He runs backstage and comes out with his skeleton jacket. He puts in around me. "Thanks." "No problemo!" It's actually really warm. "Cool beans." I think I just made this really awkward. Josh quietly laughs then looks at the empty arena. "You see all of these seats? They are gonna be filled with people. Each and everyone of them. I'm gonna be playing for them. Tyler's gonna be playing for them. You're gonna be playing for them." Josh got very serious. "So are Chef Special and Mutemath!" I said trying not to worry about it. "To be honest I'm really nervous about this. I've never preformed at a stadium arena thingy." I tell Josh. "Me too. Well I have preformed on stage but never a place this big. Here I know what we can do to get our mind off of things!" Josh pulls out his phone at starts tapping on it. A little bit of music plays but he pauses it. "One sec." He runs backstage and brings out a speaker. Josh hooks it up to his phone and puts on music. "C'mon!" He runs into the middle of the pit. "Come dance!" He yells while smiling. I laugh. "I don't dance!" I shout back. He runs over to me and pulls my arm. He eventually gets me to the center of the pit. We dance together and talk for a while.
Tyler and Jenna walk to edge of the stage and sit there. "You two having fun?" Tyler shouts at us. Josh and I laugh and respond with, "Yeah" at the same time. Tyler says something to Jenna but I can't hear it. I'm too carried away with Josh. Eventually I get tired and stop dancing for a minute. I stare down at the jacket's sleeves. Josh is bigger than me. Definitely. I'm so proud of how far they've come. From a basement to MSG. Wow. "I'm very proud of you." I tell Josh. He hugs me. "I'm glad you decided to preform with us on our first performance here."
