It all began with a look...and ended with a promise...

My name is Sarah. Sarah Moore. I live in a small town called Alliance, North Carolina. I go to a small school off the coast and I love every minute of my life there. But this is my childhood story, the important part in my life...

Growing up in Florida I would listen to stories of princes who came and rescued their true love, and dashing young men climbing towers and fighting dragons to save their love.

I would run through the woods down at my house and let my brother chase me, believing that my prince would be there, ready to fight for me.

My mother finally got sick of my fantasies and prevented me from using my spare time for daydreaming. She sent me to school. At first it was torture, being the new girl and all. But then I met Zac Daley. He was one of a kind with his soft milky brown eyes and wavy hair. I had the biggest crush on him.

I hid it from everyone by being tuff and pretending to be like one of the guys. They never looked at me differently; if I punched a kid for calling my friend a bad name, they would slap me on my back and laugh and make a big deal out of it.

But not Zac. He would always stay behind, never congradulate me, and never spoke a word to me. It hurt for a while, but I grew used to it.

This went on for three years. Then, in my seventh grade year, the unthinkable happened. We all started drifting apart; families moved and friends stopped speaking with each other. Zac disappeared early in the year, and soon after Christmas, my mom packed us up and we moved to Alliance. There was a huge public school there, where I ended up going with my brother Derek.

I never saw any of my friends again until my freshman year.

That dreary day when I was sitting in Biology texting my cousin across the hall, when the door opened and my teacher actually spoke to our class (he usually sat behind the computer all day and played solitare).

"This is the new student, Zac Daley." he sniffed. My fingers froze. Did he just say that name? Impossible! I mentally slapped myself.

But then, he walked into the room. I almost dropped my phone. He hadn't changed a bit. His milky brown eyes scanned the room with that same dull look I saw everyday growing up. His wavy brown hair was thicker and laid in layers, dangling above his eyebrows.

I quickly looked away for fear he would see me staring at him. My teacher pointed out an open seat with a group of boys across the room. He shrugged and swung his backpack off his shoulder, setting it down gently to the side.

When the bell rang I darted out of the classroom and avoided eye contact with anyone. I made it to my next class to find him there again.

He made no sign of noticing my presence. It stayed like that for what seemed forever, even though it didn't last as long as it felt.

I'm telling you this so you'll understand his view on me and mine on him. All of this will come to play out somehow, and this will help you understand our background.

I'll start my story from the class after Biology. The beginning of a new life. I hope you can bear with me...
