I just got happier and happier. Not only was I staring at a total hottie, but he was staring at me too! I mean, I love it when people stare at me; it's 'cause I'm drop dead gorgeous. But so is this guy, and he's staring at me. Composing myself, I stood up and saw his eyes run down the length of my body; busty breasts, slim waist, womanly hips and long legs, a smile playing on his lips. Wiggling my bottom a little bit more than usual (my mother would have said it wasn't possible), I wandered over to him.

When I was less than two feet away from him he spoke in a Godlike voice. "Hey." He said, "I'm Dane Kastar. I just moved here with my family."

Trying to keep my breathing steady I spoke. "Hey. Um, I'm Belleza Ar-"

"Armoi. Yes, I know who you are. Many people speak of the most beautiful woman in town, and I see they speak the absolute truth. You are beautiful Belleza." And with that he took my hand and led me back to my desk. Mesmerized I followed, gracefully sitting down as the bell went. I watched him walk up to the teachers' desk, have a few words with Mr. Harney and come and sit in the chair next to me.

Class went by really quick after that. All I thought about was Dane and when I looked at the board when the period was over I felt a pang of regret as I took in all the sine, cosine and tangent equations. Well, bye bye Harvard. Hello, Dane Kastar.

Dane got up and went to help me out of my chair but I stopped him. "No." I said, "I'm not like, disabled. I can get it myself." Oh jeesh, nice one Belle. Real smooth.

"Oh, um. I didn't think that. I just...I don't know." Dane said, looking quite a bit taken aback.

"Whatever." I said. Trying to sound cool instead of the hurt mess I was inside. How could I say that to him?! But then again, this is better for him. If he can handle me being a bitch and still want to go out with me (as he did a minute ago) then he would have passed the test and I can get to know him. Just then my phone rang and I whipped it out.

"I've gotta go." I murmured goodbye after recognizing Kelsi's number, making sure I was looking him in the eyes so that maybe he could see this was hurting me too and stalking past him through the open door.

I walked into the Refectory, or as the school liked to call it 'Dining Hall' and stood in the doorway, trying to spot the brown-red hair that marked Kelsi. I spotted her waving hand from the middle of a long table filled with people and walked over, plonking my handbag on the Oakwood.

"Hey, watch it." Kels said, "You could dent that."

"And I should care, why?"

"Belle, you know how I am about the environment. This table was once a beautiful oak."

"Yeah, well," I said, rolling my eyes, "now it's just something to put my handbag on."

I ignored Kelsi's rebuttals and turned the subject to something more interesting: Dane Kastar.

"So," Kelsi was saying after I told her everything that I know about him and what I was planning, "you're going to play hard to get bitch-style to see if he can handle you?"

"Yep."

"That's a brilliant idea!"

"I'm a brilliant person." I stated matter-of-factly.

"Well, yes you are." Agreed Kels along with almost every other student at the table.

Later that day I was walking to the Girls' bathroom to change into a white singlet, high-waisted short shorts and silver ballet flats for Gym when Dane popped up out of nowhere and started walking by my side. I gave him a glance but paid no more attention to his presence. When he gathered I wasn't going to say something he started talking.

"Hey, um, mind if I walk with you to gym?"

"I'm not going to Gym right now."

"Really? Well, where are you going?"

"To the Ladies' to change for Gym."

"Pretty much the same thing. I'll wait outside for you...unless you want some help with a zip, that is." Dane added with a wink.

Ugh! So not fair. I was having a hard enough time as it is without the flirty comments. "I'll be fine; I have no zips. You wait outside."

"Alrighty." He agreed with a smile.

I took my time in changing. If Dane was still waiting when I was finished then he obviously liked me and I would say "stuff it" to my hard-to-get technique. After checking my already perfect reflection in the school's gold-rimmed mirror I walked out of the Restroom and sure enough, Dane Kastar was there waiting. Smiling he held out a long arm and I slid my delicate hand into his rough one. OK, I told myself, we're just friends. I'm not going to swoon, even if he does. Just take it slow, get to know the guy. Like Mom always says, 'don't judge a book by its cover', even if the cover is extremely hot.

We walked through the doorway and I detached my hand from his to go join Kelsi (unfortunately Gym was the only class we had together this Semester) while he changed.

"Hello, Hello." She said as I joined her side. "Was that Mr. Perfect I just witnessed you canoodling with?"

"We weren't canoodling, we were-"

"Snuggling and cuddling in a mildly sexual way. Definition: Canoodling." Kelsi said in her best teacher voice.

"Kels, we were holding hands; it meant nothing, strictly friends." I spoke.

"Mm, yeah right. Is that what you want it to be? A friendly hand-holding?" she questioned.

Sighing I said, "Just drop it. That was Dane, yes. When he's finished changing I'll introduce you. But only if you shut up about canoodling."

"OK. Sure, sure. Why aren't you in there anyway? Normally you'd be changing him like a baby."

"Well. Normally I'd be dragged in. I don't want to be the clingy one; that always looks bad. Besides, my past boyfriends didn't have half a brain; they needed to be dressed like- as you say- a baby. Dane seems to be pretty smart, and he's not my boyfriend; yet. Ah, god! He's exactly like me; beautiful, smart and kind."

"Kind?"

"Hey!" I exclaimed and hit her. "I can be nice when I wanna be."

Laughing I looked up over Kelsi's shoulder and saw Dane heading our way. "Hey; hottie on the beeline. Be nice."

"Oh, yeah, like you can talk."

"Just shut up and smile."

I strutted over the Dane, gave him a hug and finally kissed him on the cheek. Oh! It felt so good. His cheek was like a baby's, soft as feathers. And just the thrill of having my lips make contact with his skin was amazing. I was full of joy.
