Chapter 1

*two days before*

Ring. Ring. Ring. Ring.

Oh my goodness who is calling me!! I roll over an pick up my phone. Of I already know who it is because I only have one friend pretty much. I look at the clock before I answer, just to know how much I need to yell at her for calling me at ungodly O'clock in the morning. It is only two in the morning. I haven't even been asleep for an hour yet!

"You better have an amazing reason for calling me at two in the morning such as; I'm dying, or there's someone inside my house trying to kill me. If its not one of those two then you should hang up now.", I whisper scream into the phone.

"Heck yea I have a good reason! I need you to get your lazy ass out of bed and come and get me because my idiot brothers decided to have another 'epic' party again! These guys keep coming into my room trying to get it on with the girl they are with. It's sickening! You have to come and rescue me from my brothers good ideas!" my best friend Lisa answers.

By the time she finished her rant I was about to fall asleep again, but I stayed awake for her sake.

"I will be there in fifteen minutes. Don't worry. By the way lock you bedroom door before you leave you don't want anyone won to 'get it on' on your bed"

"You better hurry because I don't know how much more of this stupid college torture party I can handle. By the way it's okay to speed miss goody two shoes there won't be any cops out at this time of nigh and if there are they will probably be asleep and---"

I cut her off because I know she could go on with her rant for the whole night and the party would have been over by then. I know she won't freak out and think I'm not coming because this has happened before. I remember one time when I got to her house she was still talking on the phone and thought I was still on the other end.

I hurry up to put something on over my pajamas which consist of sleep shorts and a tank top. I run down the stairs which probably wasn't the best idea for me knowing how accident prone I am. When I got to the bottom of the steps I was heading toward the living room to get my keys when I saw the light on in the kitchen. I go a peek inside and saw that it was my brother raiding out the kitchen fridge. I look at him for a second trying to decide whether I want to ask him what he's doing up or ignoring it for now and leaving. I choose the latter option not wanting to stay up any more than I have to.

I grab my keys and quietly sneak out of the house so my brother won't know that I am awake and ask questions later. I arrive at Lisa's house in record time and call her to tell her to get her butt out here. There was no way I was walking into a house full of drunk college students with no back up.

"Get out here if you want to leave your college student infested house!", I tell her through the phone.

"How am I supposed to get out of this house with all these drunken idiots roaming around everywhere!"

"I don't know, but I know there is no way I'm going into that house!"

"Please Ellie it would only be a minute and then we would have each others protection on the way out."

I could here her pouting through the phone and I know she won't come out unless I come up and drag her out. I can't just leave her there though.

"Fine I'll come in, but this is the last time. You really need to grow a pair Lisa or tell your brothers to stop throwing these stupid parties. All you would have to do is threaten them with a call to your parents."

"Yea I know, but you know they give me money to keep quiet and I am not giving that up when I know I have an awesome best friend like you."

I hang up on her and turn toward the house and lock my car. I head up to the door not even bothering to knock. When I step inside I am hit with the overpowering scent of alcohol and smoke. I start to walk through the throng of people in the way of the stair case. I am almost to the stairs when a tall man stops in front of me refusing to move. I try to step around him, but he blocks my way. I look up at him he is huge at least a foot taller then me. He gives off a don't mess with me or else vibe. This man makes me very nervous and I just want to run in the opposite direction, but I promised Lisa I would get her.

I try to get around him again, but he pushes me up against the wall by the stairs. His hands are on each side of my head and his face is inches from mine. He looks into my eyes and he looks like he's seen something he recognizes, but its gone almost as fast as it appeared. All I see in his eyes is something that I have never seen before and I can't quite pinpoint it, but I know its not good.

"Who are you little girl?", he asks me.

"I don't think that's any of your business.", I glare at him and push on his chest trying to get him off me. 

"I've never seen you around this crowd before. Why are you here?"

"Like I said before I don't think that is any of your business now if you'll excuse me.", I finally manage to push past him and walk toward the stairs.

When I'm about half way up the stairs I hear him say, "I'll see you later little girl."

I turn back around in time to see him intensely looking at me. the way he looks at me reminds me of a predator stalking his prey. I reach Lisa's room and grab her and drag her out of her room and remember to lock the door before leaving. I drag her out the car and head back to my house. I look over at her because she is not being her normal chatter box self, but when I look at her I see that she is asleep.

When we get to my house I dump a bottle of water over her to wake her up. She wakes up with a scream and glares at me.

"What the hell did you do that for!?"

"I wasn't going to carry your ass inside."

"You could have just shaken me or something that doesn't involve getting me soaked and freezing!"

"Hey I wouldn't be complaining if I was you. You should be glad I got you at all I mean it's two in the morning!"

She just grumbles and walks inside and up to my room. I get inside and just crash on my bed and fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.
