A Glass of Tales

Hello! Thank you for coming to read my work that I am very excited to share with you. Here is a short poem in the perspective of my novel's antagonist that you will meet later on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Layers of lies disguise my heart like a veil.
Reflecting back at me through a glass of tales.
Reflected images do not show the truth,
Allowing me hope at what must be false youth.

If I were to venture to the other side,
Could I find a better way to survive?
Would the lies and the truths finally collide?
Or would only the false continue to strive?

I unclench my hand and let go of my dart.
Shattering, clattering, and falling apart.
Glass gives away with a soul shattering jolt.
But what I feel is only cause for revolt.
