The Girl And Her Monsters

Mai fears the dark, people say that there is no such thing as monsters under the bed but they may be wrong. Her monster doesn't hurt her but she fears him, he waits until she's climbed into bed then he goes and sleeps by the door until morning. If She tries to leave during the night he follows her. He looks like a Wolf just a lot more gigantic, Her parents refuse to believe he exists.

Mai has felt like he's always been with her, her whole life and doesn't know why he hasn't hurt her. "Mai, can I come into read you a story before I go to work?" She hears her mother call through the door, Lucas (Mai's name for the wolf creature) tenses up at the sound of Vanessa's voice. Lucas gets up and climbs under Mai's bed to hide from the woman. As Vanessa walks closer Mai notices something different to normal...

Her eyes look red, her teeth look sharper. Mai tries to move away as Vanessa reaches for her but Mai moves to slow so her mother caught her. "Mai, is there something wrong?" Mai shakes her head quickly. Vanessa starts leaning into her 7 year old daughter, "Mai you smell so nice."

Mai was trying to smile at her mother but she was feeling freaked out. The lady in front of her is acting strange and looks different. Mai tries screaming for help but Vanessa covers her mouth. "No one will save you" she whispers in Mai's ear "Eric will just help me drink your blood, little one. And royal lycan blood will taste like sweet victory." She finishes. Mai keeps trying to get Lucas to save her. Vanessa starts pinning mai to the bed more so she has more control. Mai keeps squirming and knocks the lamp off her bed side table with her free hand grabbing Lucas's attention.

Lucas stalks out from underneath the bed and bites Vanessa on the leg causing her to release mai, this gives Lucas the best opportunity to drag Vanessa back wards off of the bed and off of Mai. Mai tries to run to the door but her father is standing there with a glass of red liquid and the same red eyes and sharp teeth as her mother had. Lucas notices Mai distress, he quickly rips open Vanessa's neck and tackles the father "Mai this may feel weird but wait out the front for me". A voice speaks in Mai's head she doesn't question it she just runs like the naive 7 year old girl she is. She hears growling and screams in the hall she refuses to look back. Mai goes to open the door as she hears the crunch of bones. As she opens the door a teenager jogs up the hall to her.

"Mai, don't go out the front more of those monsters are out there. I need to get you back to the palace." The boy pants as mai looks at him in confusion.

"Who are you?" She asks still staring at him.

"My name is Lucas, the Crown prince of the Lycan's and your brother. I have been protecting you since I was twelve and you were two, when you got kidnapped by vampires."  Mai nods and takes Lucas's hand, the name Lucas was just a name she's known for ever so it made sense to call her monster that but that made more sense since she now knows how she knew that name. Lucas leads Mai through the house and out the back door. "Mai, when I transform into the wolf I need you to climb onto my back and hold on tight, got it?" Lucas asks Mai, when she nods he started changing, all his bones breaking and reforming, his skin started shredding and new tissue with fur started forming. Mai starts to climb on the massive wolf with less fear of the creature after he saved her life.

Lucas starts to run dodging trees, rocks, logs and vampires. He new he had to return his sister to the palace. The longer he runs the lighter it gets he has about an hour of dark left to keep his sister safe, he can feel her soft even breathe on his neck and the top her head resting on his head. Lucas gave himself a wolfy grin knowing he saved his sister and in time for him to take on prince duties. He knows that she will have to readjust to life and see the castles therapist but they will be happy. Lucas was getting so lost in thought that he didn't notice that they had been followed. Lucas keeps walking until he hears a twig snap. All his muscles tense, how did he let his guard down so easily.
