Chapter 1 - My Life

"Ella! Would you please grab me a glass of water?" Stephanie shouted at the bottom floor. I groaned.

My name is Elizabeth "Ella" Walter. I had a great childhood until my Dad died from cancer. He treated me as if I was his 'princess'. Me and my Mom suffered together but I guess everyone moves on at some point since my Mom remarried. I begged my Mom to not change my last name to which she agreed after weeks of begging.

Robert Jefferson is an okay guy but he really spoils his daughter, Stephanie. She's the type of girl you would call the evil queen bee. Perfect blonde hair, blue eyes and full glossy lips. "Ella! My water!" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

She could activate an earthquake just by the shrill of her voice.

You must be wondering why I have to listen her. Let's just say she is a hard-headed, stubborn devil. She'll bother you for hours if you don't do her bidding and make your life a living hell as she did mine. Thanks to her I'm now the creepy girl who everyone tries to avoid in the halls.

She spreaded a rumor that I'm a weird creep who does voodoo and that people will be 'cursed' if they so much as look at me.

Nobody knows that were step sisters since she doesn't like anyone knowing about me and I feel the same way about her so it works out just fine.

I stood up and went downstairs to get her water.

"Turn down your radio, will you? Your rock music is seriously annoying." Stephanie complained as I handed her her water. I wanted to slap the living daylights out of her face. I can't believe she called The Beatles 'annoying'. I flipped her off when she wasn't looking. Ha!

I turned the volume down then started to think of good lyrics for my new song. I'm still thinking whether to give my song a happy tune or not but every song must have a happy moment at some point, right? I guess 'happy' is not in my vocabulary.

"What?! There is no way in hell that I'm living in a dorm with that. . . that creep!" Steph shouted at Robert. I looked at them and at my mother who looked miserable.

I kept my mouth shut and let Steph do what she usually does. Make everyone feel miserable. She would just argue with me if I try to voice out my opinions and Mom and Robert will take her side like they always do.

"Honey. Please understand, Me and your Mom just need to go overseas for a few months. This offer is a once in a lifetime chance." Robert explained, his voice exasperated.

They got promoted and had been offered to work at a fancy hotel yacht.

"Ugh, she's not my Mom! At least get me an apartment where I can live alone!" She emphasized the word alone, flicking her blonde hair in the process.

"But Stephanie, we can't afford two apartments!" My mom reasoned, her tone rising. She must be pissed. Steph glared daggers at my mother. My hands itched to slap her. How rude can you get?

"Then get one for me and let Creepella over there stay at the dorms! You don't mind, do you?" She sneered at me. I looked at my Mom and Robert. Their eyes were practically begging me to just give in.

My face turned cold. Why do I always have to give in? I opened my mouth to protest but the wrong words came out. "No, I don't mind." I whispered. Dang it! I really need to harden myself up when this kind of situations arise. I sighed sadly.

"See? It's settled then. Thank you Daddy and uh, Linda. I want it to be big and fancy, okay?" She went to her bedroom and hummed "I'm a Barbie Girl". I rolled my eyes. My Mom looked guiltily at me.

"Eliza-" My Mom started to say but I cut her off. "You know what, Mom? I'm so used to being treated like trash in this house that I don't even feel anything now." I croaked. My eyes started to water so I ran to my bedroom and went to play music with my guitar since it keeps me distracted.

My alarm beeped indicating that it was rock time. I could feel myself smiling. It's time for me to change. I took a shower, put on my black wig that covered my honey blonde hair, put on light blue contacts that made my eyes look funny since my eyes are a natural light shade of gray.

I dressed up in my black leather jacket, black pants, black shirt and my black boots. I put on my my make-up. My Mom would go nuts if she saw me looking like this since she absolutely despises rock since it used to be Dad's favorite. I guess she avoids everything that reminds her of Dad. Unlike me, I try to keep Dad's memory as best as I could but there is only so much I can do. "I miss you, Daddy."  I whispered in the night.

I put the pillows underneath a blanket so it looks like I'm sleeping. Mom doesn't really check on me since I'm old enough and she really isn't the type that worries too much.

I took my expensive guitar and sneaked out using my window and jumped on the tree and climbed down. I used to get scratches and broken bones before but I got used to it and hardly get scratched now.

I ran then. I ran to go to the Black Sun Club where nobody would hurt me and where I can sing my heart out. I ran as if my life depended on it and it probably did. If it weren't for the Black Sun I would have died from being lonely.

When I arrived, Jimmy, a cute 29 year-old-guy with smoking green eyes who was the clubs sound technician greeted me and gestured me to go on the stage.

Black sun is an amazing bar. Leather couches, amazing bartenders and the staff are cool. I knew each and every one of them. Black Sun is my home. I feel more welcome here than at my real home, I thought sadly.

"It's blue moon!"

"Oh my god! Blue moon!"

"I love you!"

"You're so amazing!"

The fans screamed my stage name and it made me smile. I started rocking with my guitar. They danced and sang with me. It was the best night of my life.

When it was over I was smiling and giving them kisses. "I hope you enjoyed my performance. See you next week!" I gave a bow and went down the stage.

I've been singing in Black Sun as blue moon for one year now and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life.

"Ella! Ella!" I looked to see who it was. It was Billy. The owner of the club. He's 30 but looks younger.

"Billy! Don't shout my name! I wear this disguise for a reason, you know." I told him with a smile.

"Oh, right, sorry. You did amazing!" He singsonged. Billy is gay and has a boyfriend who he doesn't tell me about. I have a feeling it's Jimmy though.

He handed me my pay in an envelope.

"I put in a little extra since you totally rocked." He winked at me. I hugged him.

"Thanks, Billy!"

"Go enjoy the night now!"

And I did. I danced with my fans and danced with some friends. Talked to my friends in the bar who were regulars and my night ended with the blue moon smiling down at me.
