In a small subdivision in Pasadena lived a thirteen year old girl named Renée. Her family wasn't fixed up in a way it was supposed to be. Her family was very poor and couldn't scrape up enough change to afford the necessities in life. Her mom couldn't find a great job and nor could her dad. As you can pretty much can see, her life was messed up because of the economy.
At school, she was the one kid that almost everybody bullied. She had five friends that never thought of her of being poor or very hurt by the economy. They always saw her as an entertaining friend. Renée was happy that they didn't know this or at least to assume that they didn't know this. She ate with them at lunch and had always made their day a little nicer for them. She always wore decent clothes to school and nobody saw that as a problem.
In her classes, it was hard for her to learn. She always loved the art classes because it was the only thing she loved to do. Nobody ever admired her works but she knew they had their own beauty. Her art teacher thought she was very impressive at her pieces. Mr.Agreste, her art teacher, always wanted to display her art but he couldn't find a spot to put it up in. When class was over, she came to her locker that had a card on it. The card had a message that made her mind blow up in joy.
  The card read:
"Thanks for being a great friend. Just for you doing so, you and five of your friends would get to go to a soirée in uptown Burbank and a surprise will be awaiting."
She came home and showed her parents the card. Her parents read it and looked at each other. Renée knew that look on their faces. She called it the "Sorry Hun We Can't" look.  They soon found out that the card had an opening in a side. It was a number for a limousine service. On the back of the paper it said it was already paid for her. Renée grabbed her landline phone and started to call her five friends: Jessica, Rico, Eric, Sally, and Juan. When she told them the news, they were excited. What was something that she didn't know was that they were all in on it.
She ate what she could for dinner and then took a nap. When she was asleep at 8:30 PM, they called the service and the boss had told them the news about the shenanigan. Her parents were happy that it was the day that after that day and that they were coming by there at 3:00 PM that next day.
