Blissful is an eight letter word, so is soreness. It is amazing that those two different things could be tied up together into one. There bonded together, like opposite charges attract. If you want happiness, the pain will be there to knock you out later. It has always been that way.
Kian unconsciously started biting at his nails in the doctor's office. I rolled my eyes and smacked his hand out of his mouths reach.
"Stop that." I huffed.
I felt bad for a second there. I knew how scary it was getting a checkup, no matter how old you were.
I irritatingly pulled my silver hair over my face and sighed. I was impatient, literally all the time too. I remember in grade school I got mad waiting in the lunch line so I shoved my way to the front of the line. Of course, I was sent to the principal's office, but at least I got the food.
The waiting room smelled of rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer. It was horrid. It felt like breathing in toxic waste.
I coughed to fill in empty silence. "Why are you afraid? We do this every month, like everyone else."
"I've been having chest pain. It's scaring me." he whispered.
I grabbed his face like the annoying little sister I am. "It's probably ONLY chest pain Kian." I said.
"What if it isn't Kiko." He scratched his arm.
I noticed his nails digging fiercely into his skin. I slapped his hand again.
"Hey, stop that, you're going to dig a hole in your arm." I commented.
He huffed and turned the other direction.
The doctor knocked on the waiting room door. "Parker?" she smiled.
"Yeah, that's us." I grinned.
"Your test results came back, nothing to worry about, just side effects of the flu shot."
Kian exhaled so heavily it was like the anxiety and worry was let loose into the air.
"It will go away soon, just hold in there honey." The doctor smiled.
As the doctor left the room, I whacked Kian's back in joy. "Aye, no sickness, no worries."
"Yeah, I guess so. A nasty bug has been going around; I just wanted to be careful." Kian stood up stretching.
