°°°°°°°°°°Sailor's POV°°°°°°°°°°°

I pushed my headphones into my ears, nodding my head along with the sweet, sweet sound of the band 'Of Mice And Men' soaking into my ear.
Classes were starting back up after the long summer break. To be completely honest I was happy to get the fuck out of my parents house and back into the dorms on campus. I didn't actually like college all that well but anything was better than being back home with the hellions I call parents.
Once I got promoted at the office I was working at I would buy my own apartment, until then I was stuck in the dorms and stuck with my parents.
I watched groups of people greeting each other after the break. There were nervous freshmen, walking around campus trying to find their first classes. I remember feeling that helpless. Im in my third year though so now I have the campus burned into my brain.
I felt a light tap on my shoulder, I jumped slightly at the sudden touch and quickly spun , tugging out my headphones.

"Oh gosh! Did I scare you? I'm so sorry!" There was a girl about 5 inches shorter than I, covering her face in shame.

"It's alright," I mumbled before beginning to walk away again.

"Oh! Um... Actually could you help me?" I stopped again and faced her. "Could you point me in the direction of the Scientology center?"

"I'm headed there. Walk with me." She grinned and followed closely behind me.

"Its my first day! No one really showed me around at orientation..." She said, smiling after her sentence.

I couldn't care less about anything she was saying. Obviously, she could care less about me not caring, because she kept talking. We reached the building and I started walking to the biology department.

"Sorry, again... Where's the biology department?" I died internally when she said this. I couldn't believe we were going to the same place.

"Follow me," I sighed.

I walked through the maze of hallways, out of the main building, through the courtyard, and into the biology department on the other side.

"I'm in classroom 2045. Is that close?" I nodded and pointed to the door in front of her. She cringed at herself. "Im such an idiot sometimes!"

I mentally celebrated, finding out she wasnt going into the animal sciences like me. No doubt she would have sat next to me and actually thought we were friends. I mentally noted not to help any stranger ever again.

I sat down at a table in the front left corner of the room. Soon more students came piling in.

"Could I sit here?" A voice said beside me.

I nodded and pulled out my notebook and pen from my bag.

"Hello everyone! My name is Dr. Presley and I will be showing you the wonderful world of animal sciences! Im going to assume all of you here are aiming to be veterinarians?" The professor questioned, raising one of her shaped brows, almost as if she was waiting for protest.

She wrote her name down on the whiteboard neatly. Turning around suddenly and scanning the room.

"This year will be exciting and life changing! Soon you all will be helping animals. Whether it be stitching a cut or pumping their hearts. Not all of you will make it to be doctors. That is a very long time to be in school so for all you nurses to be: youre still just as important!"

I realized that we would not be doing anything productive today and put my notebook away, pulling out my phone instead. I opened KIK and texted my friends I had met in highschool online. We all admined an LGBT+ page on Instagram. Not all of us stayed in contact but the few of us that did were very close.

"I think Ill let everyone introduce themselves. Stand up when I call your name, state your dream career and then... Your favorite color." Dr. Presley went off for an hour. Each of us standing up and doing as she said.

"Sailor Weiss!" I stood shyly, feeling everyone's gaze on me.

"Marine animal veterinarian. Black." I said loud enough for only the table behind me to hear.

"Say that loud! All of us need to know!" Dr. Presley said with a grin. I shook my head and sat down.

After the 2 hour period was up, I got up to leave.

"Miss Weiss could you stay a minute?" Dr. Presley announced. I nodded and walked to her large desk. "Do you have something I should know about?"

"Anxiety. Please dont put me on the spot. Ever." I turned, putting my headphones in and walking away.

As I walked back towards my new dorm for this year i felt a familiar faint tapping. I ripped my headphones out again.

"What?" I snapped.

"Sorry... Again... Could you help me find Tavern Dorm?" I sighed, it was just my luck we were in the same dorm.

"Follow me. Do you know what floor youre on?" I asked this more for my sake.

"The top one." She replied happily.

"Fuck," I mumbled.

I lead her to the top floor of Tavern and began looking for my name. I was paired with someone named Daisy. I hadn't met her yet, as we somehow missed each other everytime.

"Well, this is me. Just look for your name." I quietly.

"Thank you so much!" She skipped down the hall. I saw her enter about 3 doors away from me.

I unlocked my door and entered, seeing a blonde sitting on her bed. She looked up at me and grinned.

"You must be Sailor." She held out her hand.

I shook it and nodded, "That makes you Daisy."

She giggled and nodded. Her face dropped and she looked at her posters.

"Do any of these offend you? I wanted to ask cause I can take them down. I would hate to cause problems with my roommate." She said as she bit her lip.

I scanned the area on her wall. She had a large collection of metal bands pinned on her wall. At the end was a large poster of a bikini model, covered in oil and staring seductively at the consumer.

"I knew that one would cause a problem." She said half chuckling and half sighing.

"Oh no!" I laughed, "I like it. Well not like im a perv... Oh wow sorry..." I said awkwardly laughing.  "You can keep it. I like 90% of the bands you have on your wall."

"Seriously!?" She said as her face lit up. "I met Chris Motionless in a hotel once! He was so nice!"

"Thats fucking sick!" I said admiring her collection.

I got lucky with my roommate this year. We might actually become friends. Last year my roommate was a homophobic bitch that constantly locked me out of our room. I swore if I saw her again I would kick her ass but truth be told, I'm too timid to go through with it.

I opened up my box of personal items and began hanging them on the wall. They were mostly posters of ocean life but some were band posters and 2 small pride flags I got at last years pride parade.
She smiled at my setup and then she set up her desk.

"Oh by the way, my fridge is totally open. You can have anything you'd like." She opened her mini fridge to show me what was inside.

"Same to you." I opened mine. It was mostly full of alcohol but I wasnt going to stop her from drinking it. "Wait... How old are you?"

"Ill be 21 in September." She replied with a smile. "What about you?"

"20 as of July." I waited for her judgemental stare.

"How did you get all that?"

"Parents," I replied shrugging.

"Could we do a shot? To celebrate?"

I nodded and we drank till we couldn't drink anymore.
