Misunderstanding Part Two

Start from the beginning

You were left alone to process all the information and observations you had collected. Notes and notes began piling on your desk as yours words and numbers become jumbled in a mess of scientific calculations and logical theories. You could hear footsteps approaching as you set your pen down and closed your notebooks.

"Tony! About time, i ne-" You abruptly stopped, staring at the blond haired man at the door. "Steve what are you doing here?"

"Where's Tony?" He asked, his voice stern. You shrugged, sitting back in your chair and opening up your notebooks again. "What do you need him for?"

Steve shifted his weight uncomfortably as his hands clasped together. "Tony has been looking into the samples right?"

"Yeah.. He has." You responded, your face etched with confusion. "Why?"

"I think it would be a better idea if we left the specimen as it is." Steve spoke, his lips pursed in a thin line.

"Steve... You need to understand.. But I can't do that." You looked up at Steve, as he processes the information given to him.

"Y/N. You're the one that needs to understand. Whatever you and Tony are doing over there, it's possibly dangerous and life-threatening." He clenched his jaw, crossing his arms tightly as he stared you down.

"Wow. I feel like we both have our best interests at heart." You responded with a sarcastic tone, pushing past Steve towards a bench with beakers and flasks.

"I'm being serious."

"The offer is very tempting, but i have to decline." You poured a solvent into a beaker, watching the water molecules dissolve.

"Hey, Y/N! I'm back. Is capsicle here giving you a hard time?" Tony beamed, wrapping his arm around your shoulder, as you try to shake it off.

"Thank god you're finally here. And yes, he has been giving me a rough time." You replied, glaring at Steve as he tries to focus his attention on something else.

"I need you both to stop looking into the specimen any further." Steve explained seriously.

"Very tempting. But nope." Tony answered, leaning on the bench with his arms crossed.

"That's exactly what i said!"

"Not only could it be dangerous but it's affecting negatively on the both of you." Steve continued, his voice softening. "Especially you Y/N. I heard about what Sam said about you. You're in an unstable condition." He added, his tone changing to one with concern.

"That damn birdie...." You mumbled quietly to yourself as you take in Steve's words.

"I want to but this.. This is an innovation."

"No. It's reckless." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration.

"Look who's talking.. You're the one that flew a plane into the arctic and got yourself frozen for 70 years!" You snapped.

"That was to save thousands of people!"

"Exactly! This could save thousands if not, millions of people Steve?" You took a deep breath, hoping to calm yourself down. "Please... Just understand."

"Stop doing further research on the Alien. That's an order." Steve commanded, giving Tony an indecipherable look before strolling away from the lab.

"Who the hell does he think he is to give us orders?" You asked yourself.

"And who says we're going to stop researching?" Tony spoke up, a sly glint in his eyes.

"Huh.. I like the way you think Tony."
