"If we get arrested for this, it's your fault."
I should have taken that sentence as a warning the day I set Chase Larkin's yacht on fire.
Oh, and dragged my friend Steff along with me. Now I'm here. And by here I mean Juvy. Don't ask me why she isn't here with me, I really don't know the answer to that. One minute it's police sirens and holding cells, and the next, I'm sent to this hellhole and she's galavanting around town. Totally unfair.
But all those thoughts will soon be vanished from my wandering mind. Why you ask? Today is my last day here. The day I've been dreaming about for the past two months. I'm so excited to get out of here. Back With my parents, back at my house.

When the guards finally come to get me, a pang of relief surges through me. It's 8:27pm and I figured they just forgot about me. As soon as I'm through the gates, the guard who seems to have a bit of a soft spot whispers in my ear, "Good luck out there, I hope we don't see each other under these circumstances again." I bid her farewell and head towards the parking lot, in search of my parents fire red 2010 Kia Soul with the kayak racks mounted on top. It's not here.
I whip out my cell phone that was only recently returned to me, and watch my fingers dance across the screen. I really hope someone picks up.
No such luck. That was the house phone, odd. Next I try my Mom's cell, but it's been disconnected. Same with my Dad's. What's happening?
After a small mental freak out, I dial my friend Becca's number and she picks up on the second ring.
"Hello? Mel? Oh my goodness! You're out! What are you doing?"
"Um, can you come pick me up?"
"Sure! I can't wait to see... Wait, why didn't you call your parents?"
"Becca, the house phone just kept ringing and Mom and Dad's cells have been disconnected. I'm kinda freaking out, this is really weird."
"Oh, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, I'll be there to pick you up in a sec."
"Ok bye"

In a flash Becca's Mom's gray minivan comes into view. The lovable maniac rolls down the passenger window and yells
"What does it feel like to be free?!"
"Pretty awesome" I reply as I hop into the front seat.
"So do you want me to drive by your house, and see if anyone's home?"
"I guess." I reply nervously
"Everything will be ok Mel, I'm sure of it"
"I just hope your right." I try to keep my mind away from these thoughts but I just can't stop myself from wondering what will happen if things aren't ok.
