Wanting What I Can't Have

Part 1

" Oh my gosh, I'm so--" the bell cut her off. She looked over at me and her beautiful brown eyes were filled with sympathy.

I gave her an assuring smile. I shouldn't have gotten that deep into my feelings, but I couldn't help it. It was gonna come up soon anyway, because that's why my mom and I moved to ATL anyway. After my cousin was shot down while riding his bike a few weeks ago, my mom couldn't take it anymore, so she packed up everything, and got us out of there, before I was next.

My thoughts were interrupted when some guy came and sat next to Treasure and kissed her on the cheek. I barely knew her, but the small gesture made me jealous. She looked at him crazily and wiped the kiss off of her cheek.

" Waddup, T. You looking fine as hell today, ma." Even though he whispered it, I could still hear what he said.

" Babe, are you drunk?" That four-letter word, hurt me in ways I would've never thought, and I didn't know why.

" Yep, Drunk in love with you."

"I'm serious babe, why does your breath reek of  Bourbon?" She sternly whispered to him.

" I took a few sips babe. You and I both know that the only to get through today is to be slightly under the influence."

" And you and I both know that's not true. Look, you can't stay in class like this, go to our spot, and walk it off. I'll meet you there later."

" See that's why I love you, you're always taking care of me. I'll see you later baby." He said slightly slurring. Surprisingly, he was able to get out of the classroom without the teacher noticing.

I was expecting her to look up at me, but she didn't, she look down at her notebook with a look of embarrassment. From the looks of it that wasn't the first time it's happened, and I lowkey felt bad for her. She doesn't deserve that, she's too great of a person. But that's none of my business.

I put what just happened at the back of my mind, and tried to listen to the teacher lecture about chemistry. I'll admit, it was kind of boring, but not so bad that I needed alcohol to get through it.

Luckily, the bell rang and the most boring lecture ever, ended. I gathered all of my things and looked up to find Treasure, but she was already gone. I was bummed out that I didn't get a chance to tell her bye, but I had to keep it moving, and go find my next class.

When I walked into Orchestra class, I was surprised to see that no one had an instrument out. I saw an open seat next to a friendly-looking girl, and went over to sit next to her.

" Hey" I said sitting next to her.
 
"Hey, I'm Diamond" she said looking up from her phone.

She had pretty green eyes, and long legs, she kind of looked like an athlete.

" Alexis. So is class always like this?" I asked looking confused.

" No it's not. It's just like this because it's the first day. Any other day, it's non-stop hard work. Mr. Sullins, is very strict when it comes to orchestra, it's like his whole life."

" Cool, so today we have a free period?"

"Yep, you can do anything you want."

" You're new here right?" I nodded my head smiling. "Then let's use this free period constructively. I'm gonna show you around the school."

" Aye, I appreciate that. C'mon lets go." We both got up with our stuff to go walk around the school.

" Wow, this school is bigger than I thought." I said astonished.

" Yea, just looking at the school from the front, you'd never guess it was this big, and complex."

" Exactly, it's very deceiving."

The bell cut our conversation short, signaling that it was time for third period.

"Look, so I have to go, I guess I'll see you later."

" Wait, give me your number. That way if I get lost I can always call you."

" Okay, give me your phone."  She took my phone, put her number in it, and handed it back to me.

" See you later." She said and walked off. 

I looked at my phone and smiled at the contact name, she'd given herself.

I slipped my phone into my back pocket and walked off to go find my 3rd period class.
