i woke up to the feeling of someone stroking my hair,i opened my eyes and realised that my head was in chantel's lap
"how you feeling?" she asked as i turned to face her but kept my head on her lap,i told her about everything last night and she promised not to tell my brother
"i don't really feel anything" i shrugged,that was the truth
i wasn't upset anymore but i wasn't happy either. i felt no emotions
"he keeps blowing up your phone" she sighs handing me my mobile
i scroll through my lockscreen seeing all the messages he sent
bestfriend: im so sorry lani
bestfriend: you know i never meant to hurt you
bestfriend: i love you,you know that?
bestfriend: just answer me please
and more messages similar to that but i locked my phone and threw it to the side and remind myself to change his contact name
"can i stay home today?"
"you don't want to go in?"
"i really don't want to see him" i shrug hoping she would say yes
"ill go tell your brother you're sick or something" she tells me
"thank you" i smiled
"go back to sleep kid" she said before getting up and leaving,i close my eyes and let sleep takeover

we were having a normal class day. and by normal class day, i mean that my teacher was literally boring us to sleep
"this class is boring as fuck" dom yawned loudly
the bell rang
and the whole class got up and started to leave ignoring the 'the bell doesn't dismiss you,i do' from mr johnson
"babe,where's laylani?" myles asked me
"she said she didn't want to come in" i sigh "do you know what kalin did to her?"
"no what did he do?"
"he said he'll take her to that pizza parlour downtown and told her to wait at his house for him and then left her waiting for three hours because he was with julia and then his stupid ass had the audacity to ask her to stay when he finally turned up"
"damn,he needs to stop doing this to her" he said as we all walked to our next lesson
"she said she's not talking to him until he proves their friendship actually means something to him"
"we all know that's not gonna last very long" jake jumps in rolling his eyes
"it's almost as if he's taking advantage of her because he knows she always forgives him"
