Chapter 18- First Mistakes For First Date

Start from the beginning

"Are you okay?" Asked Chris with concern.

I patted my chest, "Yes, I'm fine."

I totally forgot he thinks' my name is Lisa, I had been worrying about everything else since I have been here rather than focusing on the main problem. I think I should tell him my name isn't Lisa, he should understand I did it for safety protection from desperate men. Okay maybe I shouldn't mention desperate people in front of Chris again.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yes, Chris I need to say something...."

"Is that you Myra Dawn?" (Yes mistake number two)

I froze in place as Chris looked at the person standing near our table in confusion. I looked up to see one of my former friends from University. Before Chris could say anything, I got up from my chair and smiled "Daisy, how are you?" I asked as I hugged her.

"I am fine, but wow you look amazing with black hair. I mean you did look gorgeous in blonde but now you look damn sexy."

I giggled "Thank you."

"What have you been doing since University?"

"I had been trying to find a decent job ever since, but I am now working for Ethan Cole."

"The Ethan Cole!?"She asked in shock.

"Yes I think, unless there is another Ethan Cole I don't know of."

Daisy started laughing "Oh Myra you were always the funny one."

Funny? I wasn't even trying to be funny. "Haha, that's me." I played along.

"I better let you get on with your date, bye." She winked at me and walked off.

I sat down and picked up my fork as I played with the food not feeling hungry anymore.

"So MYRA is there anything else you need to tell me that maybe was a lie?" He asked as he emphasised on my name.

I took a deep breath and looked up at him, "I was about to tell you before Daisy came."

"Why tell me now? Why not while we were chatting online?"

"I don't know, I never thought I would actually meet you."

"Oh so it's okay for you to lie to me then?" He asked with a cold tone.

"No I didn't mean that."

"What did you mean? We have been chatting for weeks now, okay maybe I would understand you not telling me your name at the start but I seriously thought after a while we had th-this connection. But clearly I was wrong." He glared at me.

"No Chris I-"

A waiter was passing us by when Chris ignored what I was saying and called the waiter. "Could I have the bill please." The waiter walked away to get the bill.

"Chris-"

"First you tell me at the last minute you live in the same city, you don't tell me you changed your appearance and now I find out on our date your name isn't Lisa. Is there anything you need to tell me?"

"Don't you think your taking this a bit out of proportion?" I asked in frustration.

"How would you feel if I told you I lied about my name, where I live or how I look?"

"I'm pretty sure I won't be this angry." I muttered.

The waiter came with the bill, Chris looked at the total and gave the waiter some money. "Keep the change." Chris muttered as he got up and started to walk away.

I got up from the seat and started to follow him until we got outside, I reached for his arm to stop him. "Chris I didn't mean to lie to you."

"You were saying how people are so desperate online well I am sorry but to point out but the worst people online are fakers." He said with the cold tone. I stood there in shock as he got in his car and drove off.

His words hit me hard, I was not a faker. Okay maybe I did lie but it was for my own safety but I'm not a faker. After few seconds it started to rain really hard. "Great." I muttered and quickly ran and stood under the bus stop shelter and tried to ring a taxi but my phone had no reception. "Argh this could not be happening to me right now." After few minutes I decided to walk as I got out of the shelter, I realised within few seconds my dress was soaked through. As I walked on for about five minutes I tried to call for a taxi or Sally but I still had no reception until a car stopped few inches in front of me and honked. The driver rolled the window down, I looked inside and there sat in the driver seat all handsome and dry was Ethan Cole. "Do you need a lift?"
