Sorry the first part is really boring but I swear it gets better...
I am Christina Cardens, as if you didn't know that already. I am about 5 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. I life in a mansion with my stone hearted father. He was mean, ruthless, and didn't give a crap about me or my life.
I hated him.
As for my mother, she disappeared without a note or anything. We are all sure she's dead. The strange thing is they haven't found her body yet. She was like my best friend, so thoughtful and nice, she was my light in a dungeon of darkness, repelling all things bad. But now, she's gone.
I need to stop thinking of her
.....
My thoughts cleared and I saw a hazy memory of her the day before she disappeared.
" Here honey I got this for you" She said, smiling one of her smiles that brightens up your day and puts a smile on your face. She handed me a gray leather box, with a white ribbon on top. I giggled excitedly as I took it from her, not bothering to thank her. My mom chuckled as I opened the box, ( more like teared it apart but what difference does that make?) and to my disappointment I saw a necklace. It had soft brown string and attached to it was a round blue crystal the size of a mouse eye. I hung it on my neck and flashed her a forced smile.
"... Mommy what does it do?" I asked, holding the crystal with my chubby toddler hands.
" If you're smart enough, you'll figure out, and it might just save your life" She replied putting the necklace on my neck.
.....
Those words ring in my head. If you're smart enough you'll figure it out, and it might just save your life. I had so many questions. Understand what? Why did she give this to me? What does she mean?
I shook my head and tried to clear her from my head. Your 13 now suck it up she died 10 years ago idiot.
I wanted to see her. I wanted to get away from this life.
I didn't know it then, but I would.
~~
I was sitting on my couch in my room, reading the book wings of fire, bored out of my mind.
My window was open and the wind was whipping around me, hungry to devour the last warmth of my body. I stood up and walked to the window to close the door when I heard something.
Crunch
I looked outside and saw nothing but darkness and a circle of trees lit up from the light in my room. I heard the noise again.
Crunch
This time closer. I squinted and saw a tree fall down. I saw a ripple of movement to my left, and then right. I could barley make put the shape. Looked like a animal with wings or something? It came closer, knocked down another tree.
I was panicking. What is that? Will it eat me? It knocked down three full grown trees!
I wasn't sure what to do. I wanted to call for help but I just stood there, afraid to move, afraid that if I make a move, it'll kill me. I had no idea what it actually was, but I had a feeling that I didn't exactly want to know.
A knot twisted in my stomach, I felt like I was going to throw up in fear. It darted closer, moving left and right but evidently coming towards me. It was so close that I could make out something yellow.
Something sharp and yellow.
Something deadly and yellow.
Something that knocked down three trees and yellow.
Something wet in my pants is yellow.
It still creeped towards me, and I realized it was a beak and a pair of sharp talons. I could see its chest, a dark tone of chestnut brown with flecks of black, like splatter paint. I held my breath, waiting for its next move. It came closer still. And closer, and closer. It had a hawk face, musty brown and talons on the front pair and lion legs on the back. It's wings were huge and magnificent brown fading into a light gray. It had a lion tail that was swishing side to side.
I forgot how to breath.
It was beautiful and graceful, dancing around in the light. I wanted to touch it. I was sure I was hallucinating, or something like that. It came closer, and closer, now within arms length.
Should I?
No.
Yes.
No.
... Yes.
I reached my arm out and felt its soft pelt and feathers, as it ruffled it's wings and looked at me with big brown eyes. It turned around and my breath hitched. It had an imprint of my necklace. It turned around again and saw my confusion and darted away. As quick as the blink of an eye, it was gone.
I stared at the night sky, debating to myself wether it was real or not. I didn't know what to think. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know...
I've felt it, with my own hand. I saw it. I heard it. I sighed, and called it a night after was seemed like forever and went to my bed. It didn't take me long before I was quietly snoring.

Also should I make a ship in the story?
This chapters really short. I just want to know if people are actually interested before I put a lot of my time into this....
