"How long do you think it'll take till they decide to attack again?"
A large pale freckled sandwing questioned, a look of worry crossed over his face as he glanced towards the dark brown mudwing traveler.
His whole body quivered as the mudwing exhaled deeply, it had been barely over a month since the first massacre had taken place.
Pyramid couldn't wipe the scene from his once peaceful mind no matter how hard he tried to forget. Dozens even hundreds of dragons lying still, no longer being able to laugh or smile ever again. Many, oh so many were his own sandwing brethren all dead in the matter of minutes. The seawings had changed their era of peace in the most horrible of ways.
"Sir..." The mudwing began, snapping Pyramid out of his trance.
"Not for a while, before I fled they were embroidered in there own issues..." Otter calmly stated, she glanced over at the rippling ocean water that was splashing against her large talons.
Eerily it was the only sound audible other then the inconstant rain, even in the dead of night it was peculiar.
"We can't wait much longer for you and your mates decision sir..." Otter added
"If we don't leave by the time our tribes realize we've betrayed them...they'll be no hope for us ever leaving Phyrria alive...Meaning your daughter can't be saved."
Pyramid gave the mudwing a conflicted look as he opened his maw.
"This isn't something me or the queen ever thought we had to decide." He said a painful chuckle in his tone "Giving away our only daughter like she's just a hunk of meat..."
Otter was silent, the run-aways face was unreadable as she looked up at the Sandwing King. They'd never spoken face to face, only in letters up to this point. Tonight was the first and most likely last chance they'd see each other.
"Caribou, told you to make the decision tonight sir...You should know far better then us that there's almost zero chance a tiny little royal hatchling will get through a single fight rather you protect her or not. The seawings play dirty, you saw how many dragonets they plowed through that day..." Otter commented placidly.
Pyramid's muzzle crinkled a silent look of remorse in his almost pitch black eyes. He almost choked on his own words "Yes...yes, I know that possibility all to well..all to well."
He turned his head away from the mudwing to stare at the vast ocean.
Otter let out a sigh, Caribou her icewing associate was very late, it worried her. Otter was running out of ways to make the sandwing King give a yes or no answer. She silently hoped for Caribou to hurry up. She knew how to deal with sensitivities much better then Otter did.
While she did feel sympathy pathetically enough, towards Pyramid he wasn't thinking of anybody but himself and his queen.
Otter didn't want to hang around Phyrria anymore. She couldn't bare it anymore, to belong to a tribe so easily thrown into submission. A tribe who passively stood back while the seawings destroyed Phyrria. Led by a Queen that wouldn't listen to one of there strongest most loyal dragons. One who'd just witnessed the massacre of her siblings by the talons of their so called allies.
