When I Said Forever, I Didn't Mean This

     "I love you," she murmured sweetly, pulling his body closer to her and moving the sheet between them. He didn't speak, but went completely stiff, his body almost vibrating. She rolled, moving to lay on his chest, then kissed his forehead, nose, both pale cheeks, and trembling lips. She wondered why he wasn't happier to see that she was okay. He should be overjoyed to see me, it took me a lot of trouble to get back to him, she thought, brushing the dirt from her hands.
