Before I knew it I was on a plane being shipped to Canada. I had read lots of stuff about Canada. This was definitely the most interesting week of my life. One thing I couldn’t believe was that the Reed’s sent me by myself. They had arranged a taxi to take me to this Uncles house after I got off the plane. Then I realized I didn’t even know the mans name! “Whoops” I thought.

I knew I had to have the most fake parents ever. All smiles, and sweet voices. Almost as if I was a baby. Going from South America, to The United States, and then all the way to Canada in one week was pretty impressive for one little fifteen year old.

The plane had seats everywhere. It made me feel like I was in a room with a bunch of lazy people. Sitting down in that seat for eight hours wasn’t really my thing.

It kinda freaked me out being in the sky. What if we fell straight out of the sky? Then what? Death, destruction, and a good news story. That makes lots of sense.

Finally the pilot announced we would be landing in OntarioCanada. I had read once that this was the second largest province in Canada. Wow.

A man with a tux escorted me to a little taxi. I sat in the backseat, while he walked around the car to get in the drivers seat. “What’s your name young lady” he said with a smile. He was an older man with a grey mustache. I tried not to laugh while introducing myself. “My name is Harley Reed” I said with a polite little smile. I hated when I did that. It seemed like I was using a baby voice. “Heh, nice to meet you Harley. I’m Jaxon. It’s about a forty-five minute drive to your destination.” He said with a toothy smile. I laughed. He was so official, that it was funny.

The drive was long and slow. Jaxon drove like a turtle. Finally we pulled up to an old little dirt road. There was a mailbox and a long drive way made out of some rocks and dirt. Trees surrounded it completely.

“Ok Harley, what your going to do is take your stuff and walk down the driveway, and I’m sure there will be a house” He said. He had to be kidding. I had to walk down that thing carrying two completely packed suitcases. I got out the car and he drove off waving. I huffed.

I started dragging my suitcases and after a few curves in the trail I could finally see a house. It actually looked pretty cool. It was pretty much a two story log cabin. I couldn’t exactly tell why, but I liked this place. I walked up to the cobblestone steps and knocked on the door. A man in about his early thirty’s came to the door. “Ah Welcome! You must be Harley, right?” He said showing his perfectly aligned teeth. I gulped and nodded. “Come in, come in. I’m your Uncle Aiden, and well this is my place. Heh, I have a guest room upstairs. Go ahead and find it.” He said. “ok” I said hiding my face.

Wow. That was strange. I walked slowly past Uncle Aiden as he continued to smile at me. To my right was a small kitchen, and to my right was a staircase. I lugged my stuff up the stairs, still hiding my face. Aiden followed. Up stairs was two rooms. One that said “ Welcome Harley” on the door. I turned back at Aiden and he nodded. I opened the door.

I liked the room. It was small but cozy looking. A bed was made with red covers and on the wall were pictures of Aiden and friends of his. It was warm and it made me smile.

‘Do you like it?” He asked smiling. “Yeah it’s great” I replied. “Good. So how old are you? I think Francesca said 13?” he asked. “Well that’s how old she thinks I am. The lady at the orphanage lied and told her I was 13 just to get me adopted. I’m actually 15.” I said smiling.

“Sounds cool” He said. Trust. I immediately trusted Uncle Aiden. It was a good feeling.

He discussed school with me and we agreed I would just be home schooled for now. I had always been home schooled and that was honestly the way I liked it. It had made me somewhat anti social but who cares? I liked Uncle Aiden. We were definitely going to get along.

He made spaghetti for dinner that night. It was probably one of the best meals I have ever had. His little dining room was adorable. We ate at a glass table with wooden bowls. Book cases were everywhere. I took another bite of spaghetti while Uncle Aiden started talking.

He talked about how he hunted a lot, and asked me if I would be interested in learning how to. I showed little interest in it though and he completely understood. He asked me about my interest. I replied “I really like music and outdoors stuff.” He chuckled. He seemed pretty appealed. He explained  “I haven’t seen your mom since I was fourteen, so this is kinda weird for me ya know?”. I agreed.

We had a lot of laughs that night. I completely didn’t mind staying there until Mom and Dad got back.
