"Ugh". That's all that John could muster after waking up from his mid-morning nap.
"JOHN!", his mother shrieked from downstairs, "GET DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT"
John sighed and jumped out of bed, put on his favorite blue slippers, and waltzed down the stairs. His mother look frustrated and pointed at her computer. John chuckled and said, "Mom, you know I won't always be here to help you". So he plopped down in front of the computer and helped his mother log in.
"Well it's the least you could do since I'm throwing your 16th birthday party", his mother snapped.
"Geez, someone forgot their Wheaties this morning", John replied.
His mother pointed to the door and said "Out" while attempting to barrage her son with as many objects in reach.
John raced down the hallway while the floorboards creaked under his feet. He grabbed his shoes and slipped them on as his mother threw a magazine at him.
"And you better clean it up when you get back", she huffed.
"And you promise to workout more because your huffing is gonna blow the house down", John teased as he ran out the door.
"JOOOOOOOHHHHNNNNN!!!!!", his mother screamed. Their cat, Cherry, was awoken from his nap and gave a curious mew before falling back to sleep.
John walked on the crunchy gravel, singing to himself, and letting the cool autumn breeze hit his face. He paused and realized that he was absolutely bored, so he decided to go to his dear friend Alice's house. After many minutes of walking and chucking rocks at trees, a small squirrel ran out in front of John. He jumped over the squirrel to avoid it, but despite saving the squirrel he didn't save himself. John crashed onto the gravel and groaned in pain.
"Well look who it is", spoke the redheaded girl. She smiled at John and helped him up.
"You aren't very good at anything are you", she teased.
"Oh haha," John said, "you're the reason why I don't need any friends".
" Pluhease," the redhead said, "the only friends you would have without me would be Cooper and your mom".
"Well gosh Alice," John replied, "you're no fun at all!"
"Hush", Alice commanded.
"Yes ma'am," John sneered, "Hey where is Cooper?"
"Wait, don't tell me you didn't invite him again!", Alice accused.
"Hey if he doesn't show up its his fault", John croaked.
Just then the faint sounds of grunting and gravel being crushed into the ground were heard in the distance.
"There he is now", he pointed out.
The creator of the sounds burst through the bushes. The boy was very large fellow, easily 200 lbs., and he was very tall. He was known specially for his eating talents because he won the towns "Eating Contest of the Century" for the past 4 years.
"Hey guys," he panted, "what's up".
"You're late Cooper," Alice glared as her green eyes looked into the very soul of the boy
"Hey I didn't mean to," he cried," my mom made casserole".
" You're a lost cause buddy," John said, "but I guess we need you".
Cooper looked puzzled, "For what?"
"Gosh don't you remember," Alice said, "it's finally time for the grand opening of "Gerald's Gizmos and Gadgets"!"
"Oh right," the boy exclaimed, "and what's so important for this".
"Well we heard that Gerald sells antiques and we thought we could use them for our school project over the history of electricity," John explained.
"Yea exactly, so are you coming or not?" Alice questioned.
"Is there food?" Cooper asked.
"Just come on", John said as he started to walk away.
"Www-w-wwait for me!!", Cooper stuttered.
