~Nevaeh~
I was studying in my room when I heard the door open. I looked up and saw my mom standing in the doorway. She came to my bed and sat down.
"Hey what are you doing?" she asked.
"Nothing much just studying." I say back.
"Okay. Umm well I have something for you." she said hesitantly.
"What is it?" I ask curiously.
She holds her hand out motioning for me to open mine. When I did she placed what looked like a crystal and then closed my hand. When I went to look at it she stopped me putting her hand on mine.
"Listen carefully." she said grabbing my full attention. "This is a present from me from your grandmother. My mother gave this to me when I was a baby. I wore it everyday since then. This present has protected me from all and now, since you are going to soon be on your own, I am giving this to you." she finished.
I stared at her confused wondering how this in my hand could protect her from the dangers of life. She looked up at me from my hand and said "I love you" as she left.
I opened my hand and stared at the mystery object. It WAS a crystal but on a chain. A crystal necklace? How is this supposed to protect anyone?
I stare at the necklace wondering if my mom is crazy. She can't be serious, this is just a necklace. Can she be serious?
I put the necklace on and put my books on my shelf. I walk of my room to go tracking. You see when I want to think I go tracking for Cobras. It helps me clear my mind. As I was walking through the Sahara, tracking Cobras through the sand, I step right next to a "deathstalker" scorpion nest. Without noticing where I was standing, I feel one of the scorpion's crawl along my foot. I stand completely still not wanting the scorpion to sting me out of shock from my movements. One sting from a deathstalker can kill you in a day. Right when the scorpion was about to sting, it's sharp tail in the air, it falls. I stand there shocked trying to make sense of what had just happened.
About 3 minutes of me staring at the dead scorpion, I hear my name being called.
"Nevaeh!" shouts my dad.
"Yea!?" I shout back.
"Come here hurry your mom is in trouble."
My heart dropped. What had happened? Is my mom going to be all right?
