"Jack!! Wait up!" Bailey called as they ran home from the bus stop. Summer had started and they were excited for the start of fifth grade, middle school.
"Come on, B! You're so slow." Jack said as he stopped on his front steps. "My mom told me that your parents aren't home, she's gonna watch you for a while. What do you want to do?" Jack asked. Bailey finally made her way to the steps, out of breath.
"I dunno" Bailey said. "But first, I need water." The two walked inside and into the kitchen. Jack got out two glasses while Bailey sat on a stool at the island.
"Hey Bail!" Said Mrs. Gates walking into the kitchen. "Are you excited for summer?"
"Yeah! Tommy's coming home from the marines for a few weeks and I miss him like CRAZY!!" Bailey explained.
Tommy Collins is Bailey's oldest sibling out of six who joined the marines when he was 17.
"Oh how exciting!! I remember him and Pete would run around the neighborhood all the time, just like you two!" Mrs. Gates said, motioning towards Bailey and Jack.
There are also six children in the Gates family, all of which are in the same grades as those in the Collins family. Ironic, isn't it ;)
*fast forward 3 months, school is starting*
~Bailey's POV~
I am so excited for middle school! Well I'm super nervous but I'll be fine. My teachers seem nice but Jack isn't in my class, WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN IN THE SAME CLASS!! The principal must not have gotten the memo.
I have already gotten a group of friends, Emily, Lauren, Katie and Allie. Some of them are boy crazy, I'm not.
But I think I have a crush..
~Jack's POV~
I'm nervous to start middle school without Bailey, she's with me through everything.
I hope none of the guys talk to her. Nothing personal, I just want to be the only one..
Anyways, I'm gonna see Bailey after school so she'll tell me all about it.
