Chapter 1: Goldilocks

The whistle blows and suddenly that's our cue to head to our coach. Coach Evans begins to gather us all up for our other half of the game. I could also see East High do the same as us as they also gathered in a huddle after the referee blew his whistle.

"Okay Ladies, we only need one more point to win this game. We are currently 3-1 Thanks to our captain Ms. Moore who is leading us through it." She looks my way, "Ms. West? How about you give your team a little encouragement and finishing ideas to win this game." I agree with a nod and order my team to huddle up in a circle.

Coach Evans turns away and sits on a bench as for me I turn my head back focusing on my team as they finish huddling up in a circle. I think about what I should say.

"Okay Westchester Soccer players! As Coach said we only need 1 more point to win this damn game and beat once in for all, our former team, East high! So I tell you this, go out there and do your best. Don't let any opponent push you. You fight back with strength and give it all you got! I don't want to see no fearing whimps! I want to see competitive and serious faces! So go out there and kick ass!" I finish off with encouragement.

My team screams with excitement as adrenaline runs through their veins looking pumped as ever. Everyone being ready to finally beat East high who is shockingly losing for their 1st time.

This might be our first time beating them. We've made it to the Play-offs before but the time we got to face off with them, they ended up defeating us. My team is the 2nd best falling right behind East high. So this might be our chance to actually win this and make it to the Play offs and not them.

We all spread out to the field and make our way to our positions.

I've never changed my position, which was mid-field. I believe it best fits me since I am the best player on the team, not to brag, with lots of energy in me lasting through Every game. And of course I can't be selfish and say that because my best friend, Chloe, is also a great player. She's been a great player and if anything ever happens to me she would be the team captain until I'm in full recovery. If it wasn't for me joining, she would've never joined as well.

We were both shy freshman students who didn't want to stand out and roll with the crowd. Until one day I got tired of being bullied so I finally convinced not only myself but Chloe to join the freshman soccer team in the spring. It took her some time to finally agree, and look at us now! We both stayed on the the team for 3 straight years and still are until Senior year which we are now doing. We were both looked up to and never looked down at. She was happy that we made that choice and so was I.

A smile grew on my face at the memory me and my best friend shared. The crowds screams snapped me out of my thoughts and I suddenly look around our side of the Field to make sure everything's in place and at that instant I hear a whistle blow signaling the forwards to make their play.

▪️▫️▪️

The crowd goes wild as Chloe rushes with the ball at her toe sliding past two players from the opposing team and kicking the ball with all her strength into the goal and past the goalie.

The crowd wasn't the only one going wild as for us we went crazy with joy and headed towards Chloe thanking her and sending many congrats her way. So much cheerfulness going around making her blush.

She gets picked up high from a few of our teammates and we all cheer. She was finally put down after the girls got tired of holding her in the air. She rushes to me engulfing me in a big hug. I do the same as I wrap my arms around her and then pull back.

We both high five each other and laugh.

"You lucky son of a bit-" I was cut off, "Don't cuss Layla, you know I don't like it when you curse at me when I haven't done anything wrong." She says earning a confused expression from me.
