"places, places, get in your places," sophia quietly sang to herself in the shower, sighing a bit, "get in your places; throw on your dress and put on your doll faces..."

she leaned against the shower wall, listening to the loud argument just a room away. she wasn't too sure if it had gotten physical, which is the last thing she wanted.
"everyone thinks that we're perfect.. please don't let them look through the curtains.." sliding against the wall, she sat inside of the tub, hugging her knees tightly.

"calvin, please!" she could hear faint cries coming from outside of the door before more inaudible yelling.

the girl stands up, grabbing the towel she stole from calvin's room to dry herself off.
pulling on her pajamas she had on earlier, she walks into the room, niall sitting in the corner of the room silent.

"guys, is everything-"

the paintbrush runs to sophia, scooping her up quickly and running into calvin's bedroom.
"he's doing things he shouldn't be, and i'm trying to talk to him.. okay?.."

".... you were both yelling horrible things at each other. i'm not deaf, mom. wait, sorry, niall.."

"please, sophia, it's just.. he's smoking something he shouldn't and i'm trying to help him, but he just keeps getting angry with me.." she could audibly hear the boy's voice crack, the tears welling in his eyes again. "god dammit, this is so gay." he wipes at his eyes quickly, pulling the girl into a hug.

"baby, i love you so much. do not ever forget that. you're my little girl no matter what happens between calvin and i, or what happens to me, or him."
she hugs back tightly, the girl's breath hitching slightly.
"it's not gonna be like this all the time, is it..?"

"no, no, of course not.."

a very sober calvin stands at the doorway, rubbing his arm lightly.
"look, i'm a piece of shit. i get it." he sighs a bit. "i'll get rid of all of it if you want."
