Gabriel is running a branch of the Angels' Haven Hotels--which his family owns--in Lawrence, Kansas. The hotel had been doing well for its first year, but some of the numbers just won't add up. Cassie, Gabe's adopted baby brother, is sent from HQ...

~ Gabriel ~
Torture...this was absolute, unadulterated torture. The pain was almost unbearable. Gabe had never felt like this before; so helpless, no power to relieve his anguish at all. He was now, one hundred percent sure Crowley had designed these agonizing circumstances especially for Gabriel. Crowley knew the general manager's one weakness, and of course chose to exploit it. How had this happened? How had Gabriel let himself be put in this crisis? Who made Crowley king anyway? It certainly wasn't his position at the hotel, though he was a damn fine head of housekeeping. His motto--in that clipped british accent--never failed to amuse Gabe, "If I can't lick the floor and taste Pine sol, it's not clean enough". He let out a snicker remembering the time the housekeepers called his bluff. The look on Crowley's face...

Anyway, back to how his torture began.
Earlier that evening, Crowley came to Gabriel insisting that they needed more toilet paper, going on to explain this whole spiel about the factory messing up the ordered quantity. Either out of boredom or annoyance--he couldn't remember--Gabriel had consented for both Crowley and Meg to go out on a supply run. Unfortunately, after having both of them leave the general manager realized just how short handed the hotel was. So he found himself manning the lobby desk with the object of his pain sitting right in his eyeline; a basket of complimentary, homemade cubes of chocolate and blonde fudge for customers only. It sat there beautifully glistening under the soft yellow light, sinfully out of reach. With a heavy sigh, Gabe managed to tear his gaze away and looked toward the window in the breakfast room straight across the hall. He watched as the sun sank gratefully under the horizon, leaving the sky to darken.
With the busyness of the day coming to a close, Gabriel felt the reality of the hotel's situation weigh heavy on his shoulders again. The Lawrence branch of Angels' Haven Hotels had sprung a financial leak. Yes, their occupancy was a bit down this year, but everyone in the hospitality business was feeling that. This, a steady flow of lost money, was something else altogether. He couldn't, for the life of him, figure out where it was going and what was sucking them dry. Before Gabe could delve any deeper unto that dark abyss, the automatic doors slid open. A burst of heated august breeze rolled in, along with two rumpled looking men; both seeming to be in their twenties. They had the look--the one people wear after many hours in an enclosed space, traveling over great distances--as they carried in a few tattered duffle bags on their shoulders. Their heavy boots made harsh, echoing stomps into the middle of the lobby before they stopped suddenly. With wide eyes, both men gauged their surroundings.
Gabriel's chest swelled at their awe. The lobby was his pride and joy after all--along with the complimentary fudge. The entryway had very high ceilings, with a modern yet classy chandelier hanging in the center. The entire color scheme of the place was crisp white with gold accents. Artwork of the sky and heaven spotted the walls. He gave a little smile, yes he loved the lobby.
