I hear the gunshots and run as I'm chased through the dark halls of one of the most important buildings in New York. I turn a corner and ready my gun, waiting for my adversary to approach me. The crack of his heels hitting the floor echoes through the halls, giving me an advantage over him. As I wait there and listen, the muscles throughout my body tense up and I prepare myself to attack-- crack, crack, crack. I hear the footsteps getting closer and I close my eyes. It does me no harm since there is practically no light at all in here. He has slowed down, taking caution with every step he makes. I hear him getting closer, closer... My eyes closed, my body ready, my mind set on where to shoot- I will be ready when he comes around the corner.
Finally, he gets close enough to me that I can hear him breathing, even wheezing a bit; after all, he DID just chase me through what seems like endless halls filled with nothing but darkness. A grin unfolds on my face, knowing that the footsteps of this man will be his last. Crack, crack, crack...
And then suddenly, the grin disappears. I turn the corner and fire at least six bullets into the man. I watch his silhouette slowly shrink to the ground, and before I turn to leave, I retrieve the flashlight from his belt and flip it on.
OK, so I just got past the security guard- now all that's left are the guards on every other floor on the way to the top level. The top level- that's where I need to get. That's where I will take the disc that was given to me by my father and insert it into the computer that is about to shut down all of the cellphones, tablets, computers, and any other source of communication sent by signals in the world. This computer on the top level (level 105, may I add) is programmed to send out a radio signal into the sky in two days and this disc is the only way to reprogram the device. So only have two days to get past the security guards placed on each level, make sure nobody else gets in the building while I am at work, and try to stay alive.
Easy.
I have already secured all the entry points in the building with the handy room of computers on the main level. Unfortunately, the guard managed to shut down the elevators in order to keep me on the first level. All these men are working to protect what is on the top floor. They are all working for "the boss." That is what my father calls him. He knows about the putrid plan of "the boss" because he used to work with him and respect him as a friend. What my father did not realize was that "the boss" was only using him to perfect his plan. He told my father that the experimenting and studying was to be prepared if a bomb ever needed to be prevented from exploding. When my father found out the real plan, he did not argue because he wanted to protect me- but in secret, he created a disc that could reprogram "the boss'" program. My father started training me when I was still very young, but it paid off. Because by the time that "the boss" had developed the program to its fullest extent, several years has passed and I became a teenage warrior that would hopefully be able to thwart the plan.
So here I am, daughter of a scientist and mathematician, trying to prevent the future chaos that will occur if I fail.
