"Scotty!" I hear Kirstie call out from my front door. "You home?"

"Yeah, I'll be out in a sec," I call back to her, poking my head out of the shower. She's here early -- I wasn't expecting her until later. Nevertheless, I'm excited she's here and I can't wait to see her!

When I'm done rinsing my hair out, I turn the water off and step out of the shower, grabbing my towel. The air inside the bathroom is thick and hot, steam coating every surface in the room. I run the towel through my hair a few times before tying it around my waist and wiping the steam off of the mirror.

After I finish blow drying and styling my hair, I walk out of the bathroom and into the living room, where I find Kirstie sitting on my couch. The steam spills out into the hallway like fog, and I leave the door open to let the room air out.

"There you are!" Kirstin smiles when she sees me.

"You're early," I say with a smile, walking towards her.

"You're naked," Kirstin responds, holding her hands up when I try to hug her, "I'll hug you when you're dressed, thank you." She tells me playfully.

I shake my head with a chuckle and walk past her to my bedroom.

"Hurry up, I want my hug!" I hear Kirstie call after me, making me smile as I shut my door.

Kirstin is my best friend, my ride-or-die, the only person I'd tell absolutely everything too. We met in high school, and ever since then, we've been joined at the hip. We'd do literally anything and everything for each other -- including helping me move all the way across the country to Los Angeles.

I love Arlington, don't get me wrong, but I just don't see a future for me here. I was born and raised here, I went to college here, and all of my family lives here, but my dream is to be a singer and a performer, and I just don't see that happening if I stay here. Los Angeles is really my only hope for a fresh, new start. Kirstin is the only person who really believed that I could make it in LA, and she's been supporting me every step of the way. I couldn't be more thankful for her.

When I finish getting dressed, I emerge from my bedroom and walk into the living room to find Kirstin, my arms stretched out in front of me.

"Scotty!" Kirstie smiles, jumping up from the couch and into my arms. I smile as she wraps her arms around my neck.

I hold her close, my head resting comfortably on her shoulder.

"I missed you so much," She says softly into my ear, and I hold her even tighter.

"I missed you too, babe, but we wouldn't have been doing all of this missing if you hadn't gone off to Europe with Jeremy for two weeks!" I tell her, pulling away from our hug and giving her a playfully angry glare.

She just smiles guiltily back at me and we laugh together.

"So," I raise my eyebrows expectantly, "are you going to show me?"

Kirstin laughs and holds up her left hand, showing me the giant rock which sits on her ring finger so perfectly and beautifully. I gasp and cover my mouth with my hands. Kirstin just smiles and nods, as if she knows exactly how I feel (which, of course she does).

"Kirstin, this is so fucking beautiful!" I exclaim, finally lifting my hands from my mouth and taking her hand in them. I gently tilt her hand around so that I can see every shimmering, shining inch of the ring.

"I know!" She squeals, her voice high pitched and excited.

I look back up at her and smile genuinely at her. "Kirstie, I'm so happy for you. Congratulations," I say before taking her in my arms again.
