Vampires have been around since the dawn of time.. many different familes of vampires still walk upon the earth.
Many years ago to hide the true identitiy of the vampires the leader made a magical necklace.. on that necklace was the symbol of his family crest.. this necklace had the power to cloak the identity of his vampire..
It turned his blood red eyes, to his natural eye colour.. it hid his fangs and displayed only normal human teeth.. It protected his skin from the deadly rays of the sun.. it controlled the thirst for blood only signalling him when he needed to hunt.. and it hid his vampire powers.
Soon every family had these necklaces and could live with the normal humans without being noticed...
Vampires would have to wear the necklace at all times, the only time they were allowed to take it off was when they hunted.
The only vampire rule: Always wear your necklace.
