Peridot adjusted her visor and grinned tiredly as the sun finally disappeared over the trees in the distance. She'd spend the better part of the day making repairs and improvements to the barn that she had now been sharing with Lapis Lazuli for several weeks now.
Admittedly, it had been a rough start. But through lots of persistence on Peridot's part, and lots more adjustment on Lapis's, things were developing nicely.
The two gems, extremely alike, yet complete opposites, had learned to coexist. And Peridot would even dare to think that perhaps coexisting was starting to become more of a friendship.
At least, that's what she got from Lapis agreeing to watch the sunrise with her four nights ago. And then later Lapis taking her on a flight into the forest nearby.

In any case, Peridot was very happy with how their relationship was changing. It certainly seemed that the temperamental gem was finally starting to like her!
Peridot grinned to herself proudly.
The only thing that could make this day any better was a long marathon of Camp Pining Hearts, and as she climbed the ladder to the upper level of the barn, that's exactly what she intended to do.

As the small gem reached the top of the ladder, however, she stopped in her tracks as she realized that the television was already on.
Peridot blinked confusedly, she was sure that she'd turned it off last time. The gem looked around the barn tentatively, then took a few hesitant steps toward the television.
She soon became rather distracted from the suspicious electrical box when she noticed that the couch, which she expected to be empty, as usual, now contained a bundled up blanket.

Peridot turned towards the piece of furniture quickly, tilting her head slightly as she examined it closer while still remaining a safe distance from it.

She immediately relaxed when she noticed a familiar vibrantly blue head of hair sticking out of the blanket near the arm of the sofa.

"Lapis." She breathed, then chuckled awkwardly.
Of course it was Lapis!
Who else could it have been?

Of course, this was the first time Lapis had apparently decided to watch television on her own, without Peridot suggesting it beforehand.

The green gem crept forward slowly, flinching slightly as the floorboards beneath her feet creaked. If Lapis was asleep, she certainly didn't want to wake her.
Thankfully, Peridot managed to take a seat on the couch on the opposite end from Lapis, who definitely appeared to be asleep, and didn't appear to have been disturbed at all by the smaller gem's arrival; save for a faint snore.

Peridot looked from the glowing television, to Lapis, then back again.
Whatever the blue gem had been watching, it had no color and certainly wasn't anything like Camp Pining Hearts.

'Would it be rude to change the show?'
Peridot thought. Normally, she wouldn't hesitate to change the television to her favorite show, but something made her hesitate.
She didn't have much time to think on it though, because it wasn't long after Peridot sat down before Lapis stirred and sat up slowly, running a hand through her bangs sleepily.

"Oh-! Lapis," Peridot moved away slightly and clasped her hands together, suddenly worried about upsetting the other gem by invading her personal space. "Did you sleep well?"

The gem in question hummed faintly in response and readjusted the blanket loosely around her slender blue shoulders.

"Should I--?" Peridot blinked uncertainly and vaguely motioned away from the couch, asking if she should leave.

Lapis considered the smaller gem with a raised eyebrow for a moment before shrugging, "You can sit there. I'm not going to shoo you away."
