Missing

The Campfire

Riley's P.O.V
The five of us, Maya, Lucas, Farkle, Zay, and I were sitting together at a campfire. It was just another regular day of our friendship. Maya sat next to Lucas, like usual. Farkle sat next to me. And Zay pretty much sat anywhere.
"So what do you guys wanna do? Play a game? Talk? I don't know" I asked.
Maya smirked. "Sure lets talk about anything, anyone got somethin?" Maya asked, "you Huckleberry?"
"Nah I've got nothin." Lucas said.
"Ha-hurrr!" Maya made fun of the way Lucas spoke.
I laughed at Maya. She's always doing that to him. I don't know why. Maybe I should ask.
"Why do you always do that Maya?" I asked.
"Cuz he lets me and doesn't say absolutely anything about everything I do to him? Duhh." Maya said and rolled her eyes.
I've always suspected that she liked him but she wouldn't. I mean she's he one that pushed me to fall on his lap on the subway. "Classic Maya" I said in my mind and giggled.
"What's so funny Riles?" Maya asked.
"Oh nothing just having visions of good old times" I said.
"Zay you haven't said a word what's wrong?" Farkle asked.
We all looked at Zay. He looked as if he was day dreaming.
"Oh what? Nothing. Wait what?" Zay said as he shook his head.
"Why haven't you talked" I said slowly.
"Oh I was daydreaming about Vanessa" he smiled and giggled.
We all went back to our thing. It was very quiet. More quiet than usual.
"Let's just stare at the campfire for a while sound good?" Maya said.
"Yea" we all agreed at the same time.
We all stared at the camp fire and at times looked at each other and laughed.
Lucas made a funny face at me and we smiled at each other.
"It's getting kinda cold" I said.
Farkle took his brown jacket off and put it around my arms. Lucas did the same with Maya and she smiled at him. I noticed she blushed a little. I looked at Farkle and I smiled at him. I realized I was blushing and I looked away.
"Is it possible that I'm falling in love with Farkle Minkus?" I thought to myself, "nah"
Zay stood up.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Back home it's getting pretty chilly out here" Zay responded.
"You guys wanna go back?" Maya asked.
"Yea it's getting colder" Lucas said.
We all stood up and stared at the fire for about two more minutes. Farkle started walking away as I followed with Lucas and Maya right behind us. On our way back home, we talked about high school. I was scared of going to high school but I thought to myself that no matter what, to stick with my best friends. I was scared to say how I felt but all of them were scared to do I was honest. My dad had told us that it was gonna be a different thing and we all agreed that it would. I'm kinda glad he's gonna be my teacher again after two years in Jr. High. Maya didn't like my father in school but she though he was cute. Not as in looking of course. We laughed as we walked home. We smiled at each other. I love them. They're like my family. I remember when my father, Cory Matthews, thought I was replacing my family for my friends. I would never do that, I love them both equally. We were two minutes from getting to our home.
