"Don't be an idiot, mom. She's going to die anyway."

"They always do."

"You know that."

You sit up, wide awake and startled. You eye the space a round you, wondering how the heck you were in a bed and not dead. You gulp, sweat beading down your face as you climb out of the surprisingly comfortable bed. You gaze at the painted door, noticing your shoes put neatly by it. The room itself was nice, nicer than your room back up top. You shuffle over to the door, quickly putting on your shoes and brushing your hair with your fingers. You may not know where you are, but you don't want to look like a rag doll if you meet anyone. You grab the door handle, cringing just because you were being loud. After opening the door, no one came. That made you feel uneasy. You walk out into the dimly lit hallway, closing the door quietly after you step out.

You tiptoe your way to the next room, seeing it was just like a regular living room. A rocking chair was by a fireplace that was lighting up, making the room feel warm. There was a picnic table with a jar or yellow flowers also in the living room, which seemed weird, but you understood. The room had a faint smell of pie. Cinnamon was one of the things you smelt, but you couldn't put your finger on the other.

You head back into the hallway, making your way towards the stairs that lead down, which made you feel nauseated. You grab onto the railing, lowering yourself down the steps one at a time. You felt shakey and scared.

'There is nothing to be scared about, calm down (Y/n)...' You think, reaching the bottom of the stairs.

There was a long, dark purple highway. You always hated the dark, so this should be fun. You whimper, walking slowly down the hallway. Every little sound made you flinch and jerk.

"Can you promise me something?"

You freeze, hearing a feminine voice on the other corner of the hallway. You shuffle up to the wall, peering over and looking to where the voices were coming from.

There sat a goat woman, legs crossed and hands in her lap. She had fluffy cream colored fur and a long purple dress. She was sitting by a huge purple door, slightly shivering. There was also a blue bag laying beside her.

"What would this promise be?" A deep sounded voice answered back from the other side of the door.

"The human has been asleep for three days now, and I'm starting to worry."

You purse your lips, grabbing your head from the slight headache you had.

"I realized I can't keep her here forever. So when she wakes up... please take care of her for me?"

You knitt your eyebrows, happy someone cared about you for a change.

Silence followed after, the only sound was the rattling of bones on the other side of the thick looking door.

"You know I don't like making promises..." The deep voice replies, very timid sounding.

The goat lady sighs, looking down sadly.

"I understand if you don't want to-..."

"That's the thing, I want to."

She looks up surprised, a smile making it's way onto her face. You couldn't help but smile at her smile.

"I'll make sure she's safe. That's a promise."

You couldn't help but get a warm feeling in your chest.

"Thank you. It means a lot." She says softly.

You decided it would be a good time to step out and show yourself, seeing as you've been ease-dropping for awhile. Before you step out, the person, or monster on the other side of the door whispers something before the sound of crunching snow was heard and everything went silent. The goat lady sighs, placing a hand on her forehead. You quietly make your way over to her, your footsteps so quiet no noise was made.

You bend down to her, tapping her shoulder slightly which makes her jerk her eyes open. You flinch away, hoping she wouldn't attack you or something.

"Oh, you're finally awake!" She cheers, her eyes lighting up.

You give her a shy smile, nodding your head.

"What is the matter, child?"

You look down, knowing you wouldn't be able to say anything. She watches you with a pitiful look.

"What is your name?" She asks, trying to cheer you up.

You inhale sharply, shaking your head and grabbing your neck gently, letting her know you can't speak.

"You can't speak? You poor thing..."

You both stand up, her tall figure towering over yours. She bends down to your height, placing a hand on your shoulder.

"I know you can't stay here. Though I haven't talked to you until now, I feel like you're my child. That's why you need to leave. You can't be happy here."

You nod, knowing arguing would solve anything.

"I have a friend that's going to be a guardian of some sort. You'll be in good hands." She smiles sadly, pulling you into a hug.

You immediately hug back, gripping onto the back of her dress to keep her in a tight hug.

You pull away and mouth your name, hoping she could read lips.

"(Y/n)?"

You nod, smiling that she got it. She pats your head, happy she knows your name.

"Very lovely name."

She turns around, grabbing the blue bag you saw earlier.

"I made this bag for you, just to give you a piece of me to carry around." She hands it to you, tears pricking at the corner of her eyes.

You tear up also, looking inside to see a warm looking sweater and a wrapped up piece of pie. You take out the sweater, seeing it was two of your favorite colores, (f/c) and (s/f/c).

You put it on, warmth consuming your body. It was a bit big, but you liked it anyway.

"Do me a favor?" She asks.

You nod, waiting for her to give you your 'mission'.

"I said someone would look After you, but I also need you to look after them." She claps her hands together, giving you a hopeful look.

You smile, giving her the signal you would. Joy paints it's way onto her face at your smile.

"Thank you, (Y/n)."

You sling the blue bag over your shoulder, letting her know you needed to leave. She gives you one last hug, quick but meaningful.

"Good luck, my child." She mumbles, letting you go and backing away, walking back into the hallway and back to the stairs.

You felt upset, but puffed out your chest and nodded to yourself. You turn towards the big doors, taking a deep breath and placing your hands on them.

'Here we go.'
