Eliza~
Ugh! Why me? Out of any other child in the world it had to be me! All I ever wanted was a normal life. That's all I asked for. I never wanted to be a demigod, or have a superhuman twin, or anything. Curse the Fates.
[Sam's laughing at me for saying 'Curse the Fates' if you're wondering what that sound was]
Sam and I have been through so much. And it all started getting really messed up when I pelted a goalie in the face.
I've always been good at sports. Same with Sam. It just came naturally to me. Just like music, math, problem solving, pretty much anything except for social skills. I never really had any friends. That was one of the things that set me and Sam apart. I hated school. I saw as the prison I was forced to go to everyday where they spoon-fed everything to me. Sam saw it as the place where he could act as stupid as he wanted to and everyone loved him for it.
[And I just got slapped]
Now Sam wasn't dumb. He was actually really smart. He could have been at the same level as me, but to do that you can't spend every waking moment in the principal's office for causing a food fight on Sloppy Joe Day, or setting off a smoke bomb in the teacher's lounge. But at least he had friends, which was something I was so jealous of when it came to Sam. But I still had sports. During that time it was the only thing that got me out of bed in the morning.
Everything was always so weird for us. Like one time out mom took us, our baby sister, Allison, and the rat, (sorry, our step-sister, Edith) to the stables to see the horses and I swear I saw one with a human upper half running with them. Another time, Sam saw a fat, bird, lady perched on the top of a building. It all started getting really weird and actually effecting us a few months ago.
We were at the National Youth Flyers Soccer Tournament U-8 in Orange County, California. Sam and I were in the top team in the state for u-8. It was going as usual, Sam and I doing all the work while the rest of the team played magnet ball. I finally stole the ball out of the cluster, and started dribbling down the field. I looked for Sam to pass to, but he was covered. 'Guess it's all me' I thought to myself.
I looked up and saw their goalie and immediately knew something was wrong. There was no way she was 8 years old. Maybe 13. She was at least 5 feet tall and probably weighed 120 pounds. She had a horrid smell to her, and her stringy brown hair fell in front of a very angry face. Something else about her bothered me though. It was strange, it was like her eyes kept flickering and every once in a while she only had one eye. That definitely wasn't right. She had distracted me, now I was only about five feet in front of her. Panicked, I kicked the ball as hard as I could. And I nailed her straight in the face.
Uh oh. It sounded like it hurt, she was just laying there. For a solid 2 minutes nothing happened.
I finally got up the courage to squeak, "Are you okay?"
She growled in response.
I slowly backed up as she stood up off the ground. The behemoth has grown at least 3 feet and definitely only had one eye now. My eyes widened to the size of basketballs. I glanced at Sam, who had about the Sam expression as me. When I looked back, I finally came to my senses and ran. Ran faster than I ever had before.
I don't exactly remember what happened after that. I remember a lot of screaming and suddenly no one in the stadium anymore except for the three of us. I kept running and grabbed Sam's hand and bolted for the exit. The monster had other plans. She yanked Sam from my grasp and tossed him across the turf.
"Sam!" I screamed.
I stood in front of the one eyed creature, terrified. She grabbed a hold of me a threw me across the field as she had just done to my brother. She hobbled over and stood over me. She raised her foot and I thought to myself, 'this is it'
I closed my eyes and waited for the pain. But it never came. My eyes shot open to the sound of yelling.
I saw two new faces. One boy and one girl. The girl had a very slim face, and long, jet black hair tied into braids, with a pale complexion, and icy blue eyes. The boy looked the exact opposite. He had a very muscled body, with short, curly, blonde hair that appeared to be dyed. His skin was very dark and his eyes were a soft brown.
"Jack, check on the two. Make sure they're alive and put them somewhere safe!" The slim woman commanded. "I'll take the Cyclops"
"Aww, come on Lisa! Why do you get all the fun!" The boy, who I guessed was Jack, whined.
"Di Immortales, Jack! Please!"
He nodded and ran over to Sam. The girl, Lisa, started attacking the beast. She was an amazing fighter. In no time she had cornered the 'Cyclops', as she had called it, and stabbed it in the stomach with one of her blades. The monster exploded into gold dust. My eyes grew twice in size. That's when Jack made his way over to me. I went limp to make it seem like I had passed out. He tended to me and moved me over next to my brother.
"That should be good." Jack said.
"All right, let's go." Lisa replied
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold the chariot. What about these two? Shouldn't they come with us?"
"They're much too young. The two are not ready."
"But won't they remember this?"
Lisa was silent for a minute and then made her way over to me.
"Child. I know this is hard. But I need you to forget you saw any of this. It all a bad dream."
And with that, the two mysterious warriors were gone.
I was so confused. Who were they? Where were they going that we couldn't? Why must I forget this? What are we not ready for? So many questions floated around in my mind. However, I was too tired to try and answer them. I drifted into sleep. My entire world went dark.
