CHAPTER 3

ZELLINE'S POV

"Who is Penelope on your friend's life?" Out of curiosity, I decided to call Red and asked about it. Yes, I'm just curious. That's why; I need to get rid of it. Because you know, curiosity could kill someone.

"Friend who?"

"Joseph Matthew Andrada," I simply answered over the phone.

"Why the sudden question, Zell?"

"Nothing. Just asking."

"Wait. Are you interested in him?" Based from the tone of his voice, I could sense that he was teasing me.

"Just because I asked about him, doesn't mean that I'm already interested in him. Hindi ba pwedeng nagtatanong ako dahil gusto ko lang magtanong?" I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes.

I heard him laugh on the other line. "Relax, Zell. Masyadong ka namang high blood diyan."

"Just answer my damn question, Red. Mas lalo akong naha-high blood dahil sayo."

"Okay, fine. Ang demanding mo, eh." Then, I heard him sigh. "Pen was his best friend." And I was about to say something when he added, "And his wife."

I frowned. "His wife?"

"Yes. But, they were married for only three months. At mahigit isang taon na rin nang mawala si Pen."

"Why? What happened?"

Malakas siyang tumikhim sa kabilang linya. "Nakakahalata na ko. Ang dami mong tanong, Zell. Talaga bang hindi ka interesado kay Matt?"

"Of course not! I told you, I'm just curious. And curiosity is far different from being interested to someone."

"Okay. Sabi mo, eh. If you're really that 'curious' about him, why don't you ask him directly?" he said, emphasizing the word curious. "Magkasama naman kayo diyan sa resort na pinagbabakasyunan mo, di ba?" dagdag pa niya.

Nagsalubong ang kilay ko. "How did you know?"
