Summer Flutter

Chapter 1.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

"You're not going to be able to hide in your room the entire summer, Wren. Get out of the house, go to the beach. The surf is soup owed to be sick today." Cole told me, leaning against my door frame. His expression was slightly strained, and unusual thing for my laid back brother. My bet was mum had called.
"I don't care about the surf, Cole. Besides, i want to finish my book-" Cole cut me off.
"Wren, you've read That book a few too many times now. Just come to the beach with me, please." Cole said firmly, crossing his arms over his chest and fixing me with a look the pretty much said 'you are coming, get over it'.
"Whatever." I groaned, marking my page and closing Harry Pottor and the Chamber of Secrets. Harry Pottor was my secret pleasure, nothing made me smile like a bit of J.K Rowling.
As Cole went back down the stairs, i gazed around my attic room. Riley, Coles girlfriend, happened to be an interior designer, she had great style and my room was furnished and decorated in a very vintage style. The small beachside cottage Cole and Riley lived in was really very cool. Which i hated to admit.
I dragged myself over to my wardrobe and opened the doors. My summer things had already been unpacked and put away in here by my mother. I shuffled through my few bikinis before finding my favourites, strapless, tropical and floral. My new babies had put me broke for a few weeks, but the $100 i paid was definitely worth it.
I pulled them on before grabbing a pair of very old and worn denim shorts and a cropped black top that showed my stomach, i slipped on my thongs. I looked in the full length mirror and decided i was happy with what I was wearing, grabbed a pair of sunglasses, my book, then bounded down the stairs with a little too much enthusiasm. And when i reached the bottom, Cole gave me and odd look.
"Where's Riley?" I asked him, trying to make my voice sound moody and tired, but failing miserably.
"Work, why are you suddenly so happy?" Cole asked, pulling his car keys off the hook next to the front door.
"I'm not." I said simply, turning from him and strolling out the front door.
"Why are we driving anyway?" I asked. The beach was a 5 minute walk down the road, Cole wasn't known to be that lazy.
"My surfboards, Wren. You try carrying one whilst walking for 5 minutes." Cole said, rolling his eyes and opening the car door.
"I reckon i could." I said stubbornly, no one ever messed with my lack of upper body strength.
"Oh yes, yes. I do too," Cole said sarcastically, squeezing my arm, where my biceps should be.
"Stuff you." I groaned, tearing my arm out of his grip.
"Just get in!" Cole said, chuckling away like something was actually funny.

I walked around to the other side of the car and opened the door of his combi van, glancing up at the two surfboards on his roof racks i adjusted the rope tying them down, so it would get caught in the door, i slid in then slammed the door as hard as i could.
"Still weak." Cole muttered, an evil grin stretched across his face.
I stared at my brothers matured face, he had changed since i last time saw him.
He had cropped a lot of his blonde hair off, he was actually quite good looking i guess, not that i had ever thought about that before because I'm definitely not inbred.

I kept on waiting for the usual buzz and chime of my iphone, but when i glanced in my pocket it dawned on me that I'd left it at home. I groaned loudly. Cole seemed to be to absorbed in his car driving to notice my distress.

He pulled over and i looked out over the beach, it was really quite beautiful. Pale white sand met with crystal blue water, and Cole was right, the surf was good today, barrel wave after barrel wave was rushing in. I heard Cole let out a wolf whistle. I smile in anticipation for this day, maybe it would be so horrid after all- i wasnt a fan of surfing, but i was a huge fan of guys that surf-and their six packs.

The car park had a couple of takeaway vans parked along side each other, one appeared to be a gelato bar and the other more of a dim sim and chip type shop. I hoped Cole had money because i was starving.
As Cole wandered down the beach and off into the surf, i laid down my towel and stripped off my top and shorts. I didnt bother with sun screen, i never seemed to get burnt anyway. It was a relatively calm day, the sand wasn't blowing around too much and my towel stayed in place. Which was good. Nothing grinds my gears more than a windy day at the beach, holy jesus.

I look out at the beach, a family are sitting about 10 meters from me, a man his giving his daughter a piggy back, her small rosey cheeks are stretched out in a wide smile, she lets out a giggle. The man chuckles and gazes up at his small daughter lovingly. There's something about this man and his daughter that makes me want to watch them forever, maybe it's the love that hangs in the air around them- i dont know, but when i look at that little girl, it's not her face I'm seeing, but mine. And when i look at that mans face, it's not his face I'm seeing, but my father's. No tears well in my eyes, and no smile or any expression grazes my face. Just lust, i know there is so much lust in my brown eyes right now, they're probably glinting in the afternoon sun.

I shift my gaze suddenly, i cant look at them anymore. I feel hollow and empty inside and i dont know why. There are a group of surfers rubbing wax into their surfboards, they are all shirtless and to my delight- quite fit and muscly. They look almost like brothers- the four of them. Two with blonde hair, two with brown. Apart from the hair, nothing sets them apart from each other. Their sun kissed bodies are actually to die for, and I'm fairly certain that Will was not as attractive as these lads when i left Sydney. I saw cole trudge over to them, shirtless as well, and carrying his surfboard. I could see his mouth moving along in conversation, looking at this group of boys was becoming boring despite their good looks, and i was about to look away when I notice Cole nod his head in my direction, and suddenly, without warning, i was staring into the eyes of four male models. They each held a grin from ear to ear, i felt my face contort in shock and i suddenly felt very naked lying there in my bikini. A couple of the guys waved at me and i waved back, they seemed to be slightly younger than Cole- i hoped they were. My thoughts trailed off for just a second, thinking about those four boys, but i was quickly brought back to reality when they stood up and started to stroll casually over to me.

"Hey Wren!" A tall brown guy exclaimed, waving his hand at me casually. I kept a firm hold on my gaze, determined not to let it drop to his tanned six packed.
"Oh, hey..." I said, staring at the four males in shock.
Cole strutted up to us quickly, a cocky grin on his face.
"Wren, this is Charlie" Cole nodded his toward the brunette that had said hey to me, "Jack" He nodded toward the other brunette, "Tom" he nodded toward the tall blonde, "and Alex."
Alex was the guy that i really took notice of. His height was really quite worrying, he was a small little thing, only being just taller than me. His blonde hair was slightly messy, and his gorgeous blue eyes had a red rim to them, a sign that he'd just been surfing in the salt water. I caught his gaze for a moment, and he smiled what was probably the cutest smile ever. He had a dimple in his left cheek, and a small scar on the right of his forehead.
"Tom is Alex's older brother," Cole explained. "And Charlie and Jack are completely unrelated."
"Oh, cool." I said, smiling at them all.
"I'll leave you guys to it," With that, Cole strolled back over to his surf board and continued to wax it.

The 4 boys sat down around me, Charlie sat on one side of me, and atom on the other.
"Is this Harry Potter?"
I looked up in horror, only to see Tom holding my darling book in his masculine hand.
"Well, yeah..." I trailed off, not knowing what to say.
"That's cute," Alex said, grabbing the boom form Tom and flipping through the pages. I felt my cheeks flush red, oh how embarrassing.
"Hermeny is pretty hot in the film actually," Alex stated, putting the book down. "But you're hotter of course." Alex winked at me.
"It Hermione, but nice try." I grinned at him, sending him a wink as well.

Wow Wren, day 2 in Wellford and you're already flirting. I'd seemed to have forgotten my annoyed act of misery that was supposed to get me back home, but by glancing at these four guys quickly, i realised that i didn't really want to go home anymore...

"Tom stop staring." Jack chuckled, that harmonic sound awoken me from my thoughts and i looked up just in time to see Jacks head swivel around, his eyes trailing from a tall blonde, who faintly resembled Nikki Minaj.
"Oh Jack, Natalia? You serious man, I thought you said you were done with her." Charlie laughed, his face lighting up so cutely. Man, these males had me good.
"Trust me guys, I'm done with her. She waved a me." Jack clarified, an arrogant smirk plastered across his face. Alex let out a 'hah' at Jack's words.
I sat silently, just taking in their words. The kept good company, these guys made me feel happy for some reason, in the 5 minutes I'd known them, i already didn't want to leave their sides. But i had a rumbling stomach to answer.
"I'm just going to go get some food guys-" I was cut off.
"Bring me some!" Alex exclaimed, his face lighting up with two gorgeous dimples.
"Sure sure." I said, before strolling over to Coles stuff and swiping a ten dollar note. I'd just pay him back later, like the good sister I was.
As I walked to the foreshore, the hot sand was thin between my toes, but still managed to make me move faster. The sand sunk quickly beneath my feet, making my journey up the beach longer than it should have been. I climbed up the steps and joined the cue for the fast food van. I notice Nikki Minaj, or "Natalia", stood about 5 meters away from me at the Gelato van, she shot me a glare as she collected her Gelato. I raised my eyebrow at her before shifting my gaze to the boys on the beach, Charlie waved, his cute grin reaching me from about 50 meters away. I mirrored his grin, before waving back. The were all just so cute.. and attractive. Very, attractive.

After I'd order my chips, with about a kilo of chicken salt, i made my way back over to where the guys were sitting. Only to find that the group had now lessened to just Alex and Jack.
"They went for another surf." Jack explained, as if he could read my thoughts.
"Oh yeah." I tried to sound casual, holding out the chips.
"Don't worry, you'll always have me." Jack winked, grabbing a handful of chips and shoving then in his substance.

We sat for a bit, just lazy in the sand and enjoying our chips. The salty substance reminded me of home, Bella and I used to get chips from KFC when we went into town after school almost everyday, and we'd argue over who deserved more. Somehow the reminders of home didnt sting so badly when I was with the guys, I don't even know why we'd bonded so quickly, they just kind of sat with me and all of a sudden I was telling them things as though i had known them all my life. Alex was too cute, referring everything to GTA V and wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, only it didn't seem as pervertic as it should, just cute.

"I'm sorry but i don't really understand what the aim of the game is in gta..." I laughed, munching in my chip. I saw both Jack and Alex roll their eyes.
"Did your mother drop you on your head when you were a baby? Or were you just born stupid?" Jack asked me seriously.
"What part of 'Grand theft auto' is too complicated for you? You steel cars.. Babe." Alex laughed, sending me another cute wink.
"Ok guys, whatever." I said, rolling my eyes at them, wishing that I'd never said anything to begin with.

We argued about grand theft auto a little more, before Cole, Charlie and Tom started wandering up the beach with their boards.
"Hey Wrensta." Cole said, dumping his board on the ground and taking a seat next me.
"Hey Coley." I chimed, punching him lightly on the shoulder.
"Coley? Seriously?" He asked.
"Wrensta? Seriously?" I mocked him, rolling my eyes.
"So, you seem to be all fun and games now." He said, winking at me.
"Cole, go away." I groaned at his reminder, i was supposed to be being miserable, but that was physically impossible when you were surrounded by these boys.

The rain drops started falling around us.
"Are you serious!" Charlie groaned, turning around and immediately walking off in the rain, heading toward the car park.
"Whats wrong with him?" Jack asked, nodding towards Charlie.
"He is in the most pissy mood ever, i swear to god." Tom groaned, trailing after Charlie.

Everyone reluctantly stood up and gathered their things before trudging up the beach to the foreshore. Laughter hung around us in the air as the guys joked, i was surprised by how well Cole got along with them.

When we reached the foreshore, Tom and Charlie wandered off looking for a ride, Charlie's hostel attitude clearly evident in the air. I pondered over the thought that perhaps the reason for his hostile attitude, was due somewhat to me.

Despite the idea that i was the cause of Charlie's grumpyness, i climbed into Cole's car and grinned like crazy, day dreaming of the summer days to come.
