Chapter 1

The beginning

~Ray's POV~

*Beep*Beep*Beep*Bee-

I turned off the alarm clock next to my bed, while rubbing my eyes to rid them of sleep. I checked the time, seeing 5:00 AM, and sighed. I got up and walked over to the bathroom, took a shower and then walked to my walk-in closet, dressing in a hot pink sports bra with a hot pink tank top and some black jeggings. After freshening up my face and applying minimal makeup, I grabbed my duffel bag, my phone, and my car keys. I made my way to my car and my phone buzzed.

Di: U comin to work outs today?💪🏼

Ray: Obviously, waking up at 5 and nothing 2 do? Coming soon🚘

Di: Good, it's boring here rn🙄😒

My best friend, Diana, and I go to workouts (almost) every morning before work, and every morning she beats me to it.

Di: GIRL HURRY UP THERE'S PPL HERE UGH

Cue the eye roll.

Ray: Ok ok chill I'm getting in my car now🙄

I got into my car and drove to the YMCA. I checked in and Diana ran over to me in her purple tank top, some of the people working out looking over at the commotion.

"Ray!" she yelled directly into my ear.

"Nuggets of the Holy Heaven, woman!" I said. "Calm yourself! How long have you been here?"

"Meh," she said, brushing off my question. "That doesn't matter, but what does is the fact that you took for flipping ever to get your butt here."

"Well now my butt is here, so let's get going."

We walked over to the locker room, and I stowed away my stuff. Going up to the track, we ran a couple miles to warm up until I noticed something strange. Two of the employees that worked with me were here, and they usually did not, to my prior knowledge,  work out here. Not only that, but they were dressed in suits and carried briefcases. This would have been a normal sight for me, but as we were at the Y, it was weird to see. Making up my mind, I left Diana, saying I needed a drink, and proceeded down to meet them, just to see if they were here for me.

"Matt, Mark," I said nodding my head at the men. They were tall, tan, and, in the classical sense, attractive, with dirty blond hair, sharp jaw lines, and shockingly bright eyes, though Matt had a deep cobalt blue, and Mark with a dark emerald green. I've worked with them for years, and they had become brotherly to me.

"Ray," they said, nodding back. "We've come on Corporate Quarters orders and-"

"Hold on, Corporate Quarters sent you?" I interrupted, incredulous. "Why did they send you? They're perfectly capable of coming down themselves. And why now? Of all times when they could've sent their little rats to deliver a message, they decide to do it when I'm busy? Uh-uh, bye, Felicia," I said, waving them off and turning around.

They were sputtering fragments of sentences into my face throughout the whole time I was talking, and it was very easy to ignore, but Mark's next words were what stopped me cold.

"Ray, you're getting a partner," Mark said.

TADA!!!!! I made a first chapter! Now I will try to update as fast as I can but you never know. And the picture up there is Ray. Diana's comes soon so don't worry.

Anyway, how do you like the book?? I had to make it short because with my other book it just goes on and on, UGH.

Well, who's your fav character so far? I think I like Ray, but don't get too hooked up on Diana *wink wink* Also I'm probably going to say how many words are in each chapter including what I'm writing down here.
