I sat down at my teachers front desk. Today was Monday, and the first week of planning, voting, etc. for a festival the whole student body has in on.
That includes me because I'm the class president. Well, it's not that type of situation where I'm hella bossy and rude to everybody with rebellious views. I'm honestly just trying to better myself and become a great person.
As the only African American student, I think when I first walked in here I set some boundaries for all the teachers/staff and students who are nothing like me. This is Japan. Why did I come here to finish high school? It was my dad's decision, because like many parent guardians who are loving and strict, they want the best for the next generation. I can deal with that and I can deal with being here too. As a matter of fact I've made a majority of cool friends and we have our own clique. Japanese isn't that hard if your smart and you actually want to learn it.
The fact that these kids take everything in their life seriously, kinda bugged me out when I first got here but I'm American so I grew up their for the most part and spending five more years of my life here. I've learned to get used to it though but I have to say it's a nice change to see everybody laughing, smiling and engaging in social and physical activity.
"Hey! Class prez," one of the kids said waking me out of my work. I had just finished writing a list of cool activities that could or couldn't make the festival this year.
"What's up?" I answer, not bothering to look up but organize my papers instead. It's a certain sort of demeanor you carry with being responsible.
"Nothing against you but, are you sure you can handle all this by yourself ?" I decided to glance at this boy trying to socialize with me.
"This is a very busy time for me. If you're trying to ask if I need help then no I don't. Thank you though." After I gathered all my papers together, I stood up with all my things and smiled while getting a good look at him for the last time before leaving.
He sure was different then any other boy I've met here. His hair was cool, and spiky with black and blend color of blonde at the top. He must've dyed it. His honey brown eyes bored into mine and I lightly shook my head still plastering a smile. I winked at him and replied, "see you around," before taking my exit.
