The Luna East kids tried to accommodate him as best they could. The football team — the guys Carly was talking to a while ago — were especially welcoming, calling him over when it became apparent that he was standing by himself beside the pool. They asked him how well his first week in Luna East was going, and told him all about the teachers to look out for and the subjects he could afford to slack on. But they could only talk about school for so long, and since the only time Sebastian had played football was one weekend when he was in Grade 3, the well of conversation soon began to run dry. It wasn’t long before the members of the football team went back to talking amongst themselves. Sebastian had to quietly slink away from them so he wouldn’t feel so out of place.
