A Case of You

It's been four months working for my boss, Trevor Madsen and I still get nervous being in his space. It's not like he's mean or cruel...he's just reserved. An attorney with his own practice, he could be very intimidating in the court room, and I loved to watch him work.  At times, he was very hard to read and therefore, I never really knew what to say in certain situations. I can't remember how many times my jokes were ill-timed or put my foot in my mouth.  But I guess I couldn't attribute all of my flubs to his elusive poker face.  The fact was, Trevor was one of the most handsome men I've ever seen.  His presence in the office was ardent and palpable, and whenever he came close to me, my body didn't feel like my own. I had a terrible crush on him and it was powerful, heated and dangerously magnetic. Many nights we would work side by side putting together a big case and I couldn't help but fantasize about him. It's terrible to admit, but the man has definitely made it into my fantasy file, thinking about him as I touched and teased myself when I'm alone at night. I was bold in my fantasies. Straddling him, rubbing myself against him until he craved to be inside of me.

But in reality, I'm far from the bold vixen that I portrayed myself in those fantasies. I never was very dominant in the bedroom and these days I don't even have to worry about it, because I've been single for quite a while. Just getting off on my own when the mood strikes me. You can't be shy as a paralegal, and for the record, I'm really not, but when it came to interacting with Trevor, I often would find myself with less to say, worried I would say something stupid. Even when I did, Trevor seemed to either ignore it or give a polite smile, so I wasn't sure if he thought I was just ridiculous or cute. In any event, I really like my job and don't want to talk myself out of it, so I make sure I worked my ass off to prove to him I was exactly what he needed. Perhaps in more ways than one.

As I sat down at my desk, looking through computer files, I felt him standing in front of me.

"Morning Natalie."

I look up to see Trevor giving me a warm, polite smile. His features are soft, with just enough ruggedness to keep him from being pretty. His eyes were a bright, deep blue that were in such a contrast to his wavy black hair.  Often throughout the day, a tendril or two would fall in his face, and I would be so tempted to move them, softly touching his face. Today he wore the three-piece navy blue Armani suit--my favorite. And standing at about 6'2 with a lean, sinewy frame, trust me the man wore it well.

"Good Morning, sir," I replied cheerfully with a smile. "How are you this morning?"

He nodded, "I'm good. I'm waiting on some documents to come in for the McDonough case. A courier is scheduled to bring them around 8:30 this morning. Can you please let me know when they get in?"

I nodded in reply. "You got it. Oh, and that case research you asked for yesterday is on your desk. Found suspicious emails dating back to last year. I put red flag tabs on all of them. Some are pretty shady."

Trevor's eyes widened in shock. "You finished already? That's fantastic! A year's worth huh? Let's look it over later, but that may be the pivotal information we need." His smile broadened at me and my heart jumped into my throat. That smile, it's gonna do me in one of these days. "Excellent work, Natalie. I swear, you are a machine."

I shrugged. "No worries, I'm just glad we found something. And I'll let you know when those documents get here."

"Thanks Natalie. I don't have court today, so I'll be in my office if you need me." He knocked on my desk and headed to his office, which has adjacent to my desk. I loved to watch him move. He owned every space he inhabited, that gait of his always made me and others take notice.

The day wound down like any other day as I made sure documents were delivered, reviews of legal papers were drawn up and a little investigative work, which got me interested in being a paralegal in the first place.  The newest case was a beast and Trevor barely left his office. In fact, if it wasn't for me making sure I replenished his water pitcher whenever I went in there with items, I was sure he would have gone all day without water.  I think he realized it too when I came in with a set of legal documents for him to review near 3 o'clock. As I set the items down and began to leave his office, he cleared his throat.
