In this story, Harry never married Ginny (he just went on simply as single) but Hermione did marry Ron. Although, kids were never made. Enjoy!x

As she took a slight breath, Hermione knew it. She couldn't bear this state of unhappiness anymore. So, she packed her things and wandered around for hours until she finally thought, "Maybe I won't bother him that much?" and went to the only place that was home to her...

"Harry, I need you,.." she breathed on the verge of tears, as the black haired boy opened the door.

EIGHT HOURS EARLIER

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, shiny and warm. Harry Potter, wearing comfortable suit-pants and a warm pullover, was sipping his hot coffee on his patio, watching the clouds slowly run away. He closed his eyes, mornings like these were his favourite.

On the other side, Hermione Granger was on the edges of madness. The brilliant witch didn't get any sleep, thanks to her and Ron's fight. Again. She was laying on the kitchen floor, her back against a cupboard. Tears stopped falling down now and all you could hear was the birds signalling the early morning came. Sighing, Hermione got up and made her way to the bathroom. The girl rolled her eyes when she saw herself. You look disgusting, she thought. Smashing fresh air on her pale face skin, she then tried to tame her wild bushy hair into a small low bun. Hermione then walked down to the kitchen and found Ron Weasley, with a pale tired face, making breakfast. Without a word, the witch switched to a chair and nodded when Weasley put down her plate. Eggs and bacon, again, she thought. It seemed like everything that Ron does that used to make her heart melt now just makes her want to puke. She forced herself to eat and got up just as he sat down to enjoy his breakfast. Hermione put the dishes away and decided to go on the patio. She didn't know what to do anymore, her and Ron's relationship have fell to pieces and was now only made of insults, screams and tears -mostly Hermione's- .. she had lost all contact with her friends, Harry included. She missed Harry so much. As she sighed, she hoped the future would be better.

Two hours passed by now and they only were full of another fight. Hermione was now sitting against the couch, tears slowly falling down her cheeks. Ron went very far that time, he said things she couldn't forgive and managed to dare to hit her. She casted a stupefying charm at him but he got to avoid it and then just went to their room to lock himself.
As she took a slight breath, Hermione knew it. She couldn't bear this state of unhappiness anymore. So, she packed her things and wandered around for hours until she finally thought, "Maybe I won't bother him that much?" and went to the only place that was home to her...

Harry, getting out of his job, went and bought some donuts as a slight treat to himself. Harry was kind of lonely now since a while, so he figured that he would try to make himself happier in order to forget that loneliness. The boy entered his apartment and closed the door. He put down the bag of donuts on his kitchen island and got rid of his work bag and jacket. Wingardium Leviosa, he said, as he levitated his clothes and bag to his room. Just as a little smile formed on his thin lips because he was about to eat one of the donuts, a knock was heard on his door. Harry, frowning, held his wand while turning the knob of the door. He was relieved when he saw his bestfriend Hermione.

"Harry, I need you,.." she breathed on the verge of tears, as the black haired boy opened the door.

He let her in, worried, taking her bags. Harry closed the door and levitated Hermione's bag to his spare room. As she sat on his couch, Harry went next to her.

"Hermione, what's the matter?" he asked, really worried now.

Granger told him everything about Ron and her, and also about her deeply wish to divorce from him but how he kept refusing. As she talked, Harry couldn't help but notice how much she had changed and not for the better. Hermione's cheeks were a lot more thinner, her skin was pale and her face seemed way more tired than it should be. He understood how much of a nightmare she might have been living, and was happy she came to him. When she finished, she started crying again and threw her arms around Harry. Surprised and not used to it anymore, Harry ignored the feeling on his spine and stomach and hugged back. He kissed the top of her head and waited for her to stop. When she did, Harry grabbed the bag of donuts and smiled while looking at Hermione, "Donuts?" he asked while grinning goofily.

"Oh my god, I missed you too much," said Hermione, slightly smiling and grabbing a donut.

Harry got out of his room, freshly showered and in his pyjamas. He was surprised by the nice meal smell that was all around the house. Harry crossed the corridor to find Hermione in the kitchen, cooking. She looked up at him and smiled shyly.

"I figured you'd be hungry, and I was too. I hope that's okay," she said.
"It's totally fine, thank you so much Hermione," he replied, walking in the kitchen.

Harry looked at her making homemade tomato sauce, and realised how much a good bath would help her, so, silently, he went back to the bathroom and ran one for her. He threw a coconut smelling bath bomb in, and went back to her with a proud smile. He grabbed her waist and made her get out of the kitchen.
Hermione felt a weird sensation as Harry's hand connected to her skin. She blushed slightly and laughed as he pulled her out.

"Harry, what are you doing? I'm cooking!" she said, laughing.

He walked her to the bathroom and she couldn't help but think she was hallucinating. Hermione hadn't have a bath in such a long time, and coconut was her favourite smell. She secretly wished this bath was for her.

"Nice bath. But, didn't you just get out of a shower?" she spoke, her clever voice being back.

Harry smiled at her tone, he loved when Hermione took a clever tone. It made her look so smart and.. appealing ? Yes, that's the word.

"It's all yours, actually. I'll finish the cooking, enjoy," he said in a wink, closing the bathroom door.

She couldn't believe it, Hermione was filled with happiness and excitement. She apparated to the spare room, took some clean clothes and apparated back to the bathroom. She took off slowly her clothes and breathed with pleasure as she slipped down the warm bath.

Harry and Hermione had a nice meal, fulfilled with laughter and smiles. They both truly enjoyed it, Hermione happy to have a few hours without screaming or crying, Harry happy to have found back his bestfriend and lost his loneliness. Hermione was now tucked up in a warm blanket on a sofa, reading a book, while Harry watched a Quidditch match on the tv. She had her feet on Harry's lap and couldn't wish for better. Hermione truly needed a night of rest, with only happiness, good meal, warm blankets, a book and her bestfriend.

After a while, Hermione looked up to the clock over the tv and saw it was past midnight. She closed her book and got up.

"It's really late, I'm going to go to bed," she said looking at Harry.

A smile formed her lips as she realised he was asleep on the sofa, sneering a little bit. She turned off the tv and put her warm big blanket on him, Hermione kissed his cheek and looked at him.

"Thank you for tonight. Good night, Harry," she whispered.

The beautiful girl turned off the lights and got to the spare room. She slipped into the bed and closed her eyes. For the first time in a long while, Hermione felt fulfilled, content, safe and just great. And it was all thanks to Harry.
