The wind stirred around us as drop of water emerged from the sky. "Man." I breathed. Alex seemed happier than ever. As the wind rapidly picked up, so did the rain. Not enough to hurt, but enough to where I was absolutely drenched in seconds. It felt good running out in the rain, I was getting really hot with this huge coat of fur. It felt good on my paws, too. Weird, I know, but it was making them tougher. Not only that, but the ground was like a free nail file. It was perfect.

A sudden outburst of energy exploded in me and I felt like I could just keep running and running for miles at full speed. I glanced over at Alex to see his sleek coat at a blur due to the speed and rain. The rocky road felt like stepping on ice. A shock of cold, but pleasure due to the heat before. The wind whipped and I felt my fur whip along with it too. It started raining even harder as the sky grew darker and darker. Lighting flashed from the other side of the sky as birds quickly flew through the sky the opposite direction I was heading in.

Thunder shook the ground startling me, but not enough to stop. I wanted to check on James , see if he was following us or not, but this was way to much fun to worry about him. We kept running and running, chasing down that bright path. Eventually the path because more transparent and disappeared, signaling that we had arrived at our final destination. My home. I hopped up onto the porch than shook my body like a wet dog. Oh wait, I am a wet dog. Convinced I was dry enough, I changed back into my regular form and headed back inside with Alex right on my tail.

"Rachel! Where have you been, I've been worried sick!" My mom said coming up to me. "And why is he here! Oh dear your all wet come, sit down." She gestured towards the couch and I plopped down. Alex awkwardly stood at the door waiting for and invitation. "Uh, Alex you can sit down too." I said patting next to me. The weather had been crazy here lately. One minute I'm sweating one minute I'm freezing. Although it is winter. Mom came back with 3 cups of hot chocolate handing one to each of us. "Now you better explain, and you'll explain well." She said sitting down. I shot harry a look and his voice came into my head. "Lie. Think of a good story. We got lost. Adventured. Something." He answered.

"Mom. Alex and I have made up." I answered. "Up and out." Alex breathed. i smacked his leg and he flinched. "Ouch what was that for?" he asked. "Did you say something darling?" mom asked. "No he just told me to continue the story." I responded. "Because we made up and decided to be friends, we left and decided to go exploring. I forgot to tell you somehow I was just so excited to see new things that it must have just slipped my mind. We were deep into the forest when he left to go get some things to make a little house out of because it was dark and we wouldn't be back in time. I went venturing for a good spot and it took us a long time to find each other again. We spent the night there in the forest and when the sun came back we walked home. I'm so sorry I scared you." I explained.

"That's quite the story Rachel," She said. "What do you mean?" I asked. "It's just what happened." . "You're the one who wanted to know," I concluded. "Right, sorry dear. I'll just go back to my evening newspaper." She said. "Mom you don't read the newspaper," I told her. "Right. Silly me. My old age must be getting to me." She cooed. " Mom you're 43, you're not that old. Are you okay?" I asked. "Of course honey why wouldn't I be? I'm as happy as a wet dog running through the rain," She said. "Okay mom. Enough with the poetic speaking I think you need a nap." I said urging her to her room. "Silly girl I'm immortal I don't need naps," She said resisting me. "What?" I asked.

My mom then changed into something that I never thought could have even been pictured in somebody's head, because it was the most frightening thing i've ever seen in my life
