Hoseok's POV

"JUNG HOSEOK! JUNG HOSEOK!"

I took off my cap and waved at the crowd, who instantly erupted into cheers. I ran around the pitch as my team members followed me chanting my name.

It was a close match but in the end, we won. I almost teared up at the sight of everyone screaming with happiness. The fact that they all shared my passion for the sport always energised me.

Our team waved at the crowd one last time before heading to the changing room.

"Well done!"

"Bro, you done it again!"

One at a time, my team members thumped my back and some pulled me in for a hug.

"We done it together," I reminded them, chuckling.

"Eww you are so cheesy!" said one of the boys.

The last person to enter was our coach. We all instantly bowed at the sight of him. He had a huge beam on his face as he came to congratulate me.

"Let's all go out to eat. I will pay!" he shouted.

Everyone automatically roared with cheers as they pumped their fists into the air. Without even changing, they all grabbed their belongings ready to leave. The thought of food always caused the guys to act like animals.

"I'm going to visit my sister so I can't come," I said, causing them to be silent.

"Well, you can go ahead then. Give this to her," said Coach, handing me the ball that we had used in the match.

I took it from his hand and noticed a signature on it. It was signed by Kim Namjoon, her favourite player on our team. I looked up and made eye contact with him. I gave him a wide smile and he gave me a thumbs up.

I bid everyone goodbye and ran out with my belongings. I walked the same route to the hospital. A month ago I was taking the same path. Except, at that time, it was raining and I was running with tears streaming down my face.

It was a news that anyone would hate to hear through a phone call. I shivered at the haunting memory of that day.

"Mum! What is it? Why are you at the hospital?" I asked, my voice beginning to shake.

All I could hear was the sound of my mother crying on the phone.

"It's your sister," she finally managed to choke out.

"What about her? What happened to Haneul?"

"She- She, only has a year left," she cried, "Oh God! Why? Why does it have to be our poor Haneul?!"

She didn't have to say anymore. This was what I was dreading. Haneul had been unwell for a while. But... But I didn't think it would escalate this quickly.

My hand dropped besides me and I could no longer hear the cries of my mother. Something inside me tightened and I could feel a lump growing in my throat. My heart hammering painfully against my ribcage.

The drizzle had now gotten heavier and rain was pelting down on me. But I had hardly noticed it as I stood frozen in the busy street.

I was paralysed as I stared wide-eyed, the colour draining from my face. I was stuck. Motionless, in the midst of a world that was going too fast for me to handle.

I tried to take a step forward. But it was more like a stumble as my body met with the cold wet floor. I laid there, trembling from the shock which my body could not take. The next thing I knew, I was up and running.

My feet slapping against the many puddles. My full focus was on getting to the hospital as quickly as possible. I disregarded the rain and the crowd as I pushed myself past people.

My eyes were burning and I wasn't sure if it was because of my tears or the wind that was blowing itself into my eyes.

I shook my head, scolding myself for thinking of that memory. I was known to be an emotionally strong person, I was usually the one giving others moral support. So the memory of me breaking down and losing control of that strength I had was scary. I hated it.

Before going to the hospital, I went to the ddeokbokki stand to buy Haneul's favourite snack.

Once I got inside, I was too busy focused on holding the ddeokbokki and my baseball things that I didn't notice a girl in front of me.

Once I saw her, it was too late because she had stumbled onto the floor with my baseball bat.

I had repetitively apologised and even tried to help her up, but she plainly rejected my offer. We were in a hospital and who knew what kind of situation she was in. So I dismissed her rudeness and walked to the reception desk.

Watching her sign a piece of paper gave me the feeling that she wasn't here as a visitor. I couldn't help but let out a sigh because I felt bad for her.

They were heading the same way as I but since the doctor who was guiding them was being so slow, I zoomed passed them. I paced down the corridor until I stopped in front of a familiar room.

When I entered, friendly faces greeted me and I did the same. I walked over to my sisters bed and she sat up, beaming at me.

"Guess what I bought," I teased, wiggling my eyebrows.

"Hurry up," she giggled, extending out her arms to grab the bag.

Suddenly a shout from outside caused all conversations in the room to stop.

I looked out of the open door to see the mother of the girl I bumped into, shouting at the doctor.
