Amber wasn't always the scared one. She was actually the popular, fearless one who didn't even believe in ghosts. Even when there were rumors about the howls and screams people hear when they enter the haunted house. She didn't believe anything anyone said until she saw it in front of her.
Prologue
Third Person POV
"I heard that once you go in, you never come out. But I have heard of two different things. The ghost boy in the house either kills you once you walk in, or takes your soul and locks you up in the basement."
Tom and Beth share a look, not believing anything. They still turn back to Ashley and give her a nod, allowing her to continue.
"When my cousins were visiting they decided to walk to the door but before they could even knock on the door, letters slipped out from under the door. They picked one up and after reading it, they started running away. They wouldn't tell anyone what it said but the only thing we could know was that they were from the spirits who entered the house before. They told them exactly what happened to each and every one of them when they went in."
Annie, the only one who actually believed Ashley perks up. "Did they hear anything from the house?"
Tom gives her a look while Beth nudge her arm and mouths, 'Seriously?!' They couldn't believe that Annie was actually falling for this stupid story.
Ashley doesn't notice and continues,"I'm not sure. They wouldn't tell anyone anything but I heard load moans coming from the house. I didn't want to get any closer than the gates and I'm glad I did or-"
Beth groans. "Seriously Ash? We all know that isn't true. We were with you that whole entire summer. We would know if you went anywhere without us. You're not really known to keep a secret. Even if the slightest thing happens, you go on blabbing it to us. We should know if that happened or not."
Tom nods his head in agreement. "Sorry Ash but it's kind of the truth."
"You wanna bet? The house IS just down the street from here. We could check it out right now."
Annie who was innocently watching the argument take place piped up before they could actually walk into the house. "NO! I'm not going into the haunted house!"
Ashley shrugged. "Suit yourself but if you don't believe me, I swear-"
Annie shook her head. "No, I believe you. I'm good. I trust you 500,000,000%. I swear!"
15 year old Amber Miller was watching a movie with her best friend, Crystal Wong. They were hugging each other tight, or at least Crystal was. Crystal was the type of girl who gets scared over everything while Amber was the complete opposite. She's a carefree rule breaker that's scared of nothing.
When she was just three, she put her whole hand through fire. In the fourth grade, when her class was on a field trip to the zoo, she went through the gates, separating the animals and humans, and made the fearless snake fear her. Amber has always been like that, scared of nothing or no body, and a lot more braver than guys. In fact, when she went on her first date with Alex Garner, they watched a horror movie and in the end, Alex was the one freaked out and Amber had to take him back home. He was too scared to call his mom and end up with some random body snatcher take him home instead.
Crystal had fear in her eyes while Amber was just looking bored, like usual. Amber suddenly jumped up, turned off the TV and looked at Crystal who landed on the floor when Amber shoved her off. "What are you doing? Get yo lazy butt off the floor. We don't have time to just lay on the floor!" Amber yelled at her best friend.
