Sitting down staring at the words that were printed out on the pages before her, she remained focused on the alternate universe instead of the reality she was in, hence her coffee getting cold.
Her brown locks were thrown up in a very messy bun as she never really was a fan of long hair, yet she couldn't even think about cutting it short. She was skipping pages so quickly that the waiter before her only raised his eyebrows at her as he polished the counter. He's been trying to gather the nerve to ask her for her name, or ask her anything really. He's tried to start conversation with her the past few times she was there but each time he just couldn't seem to hear what she actually said and just ended up staring into her golden-like eyes. It's just like when you're reading and you've already gone through a couple pages and yet you have no idea what you just read. You saw every word and it played through your head, yet you don't remember it.
He opened his mouth to say something, he had no idea what it was going to be, but before a word could slammer past his lips the black haired boy next to him rammed his elbow into his stomach. With an impale of a sharp breath he turned to look at the boy, not noticing the girl raising her head at the gasp.
"What Chase?" He grumbled turning his attention to the boy whilst rubbing his stomach.
Chase nodded his head towards the back of the shop, nervously fiddling with the rag he was holding. Just looking at him, he knew Chase had nothing good to say. Deciding that he didn't want to argue he just pushed past the boy and stormed to the back, knowing that Chase was going to be right behind him.
He was right. Just as he spun around Chase walked in, his gaze on the floor, as he walked towards a pile of boxes kneeling down next to it as he reached it "Can you help me with this Nate?"
With a sigh Nate knelt down next to Chase and started helping him pull out the ingredients inside of it, but he did not speak. He had nothing to say to the boy. There was tension between them and not the kind of tension Chase wanted, he felt guilt settle in the bottom of his stomach. He knew more then not that Nate can take care of himself, but as his friend, or rather as somebody who cares deeply for him, he just wanted to help. Besides he couldn't help himself. Everything happened so fast that he had no idea he was putting his plan into motion when Nate's date started. He was jealous and now he was paying for it.
Words were forming in his mind as he tried to create a decent sentence, until he realised that he couldn't form a single normal sentence so he just let the words stumble out "I was just trying to help."
Nate scoffed and stood up, walking to the other side of the room as he carried the six coffee bags to where they should be, but Chase followed him "Look I know you think I was trying to fuck everything up for you but I swear I wasn't I just-"
"You don't have to say anything." Nate cut him off, grumbling "I get it."
Those words made Chase stop as he thought of the worse, and stumbled with his words "I-I... l-look," he swallowed "I don't- I mean I-"
Nate turned around glaring at the person he called a best friend "I don't care okay!" He was pissed and the sound of his angered voice made Chase step back as Nate continued to fume "So what if we've been friends since we were kids, one stupid girl wasn't going to change that! God! You're such an idiot. Do you have any idea how much effort I put into all that? I went out of my way to fucking learn how to play that stupid song on the piano! And you fucked it all up for me because you were being stupid!"
In a way, while listening to his friend ramble, Chase was revealed knowing that his secret wasn't out, but still he cowered away knowing he had indeed fucked everything up "I didn't know she was that important to you."
